I remember seeing this for the first time time back when it first came out having no idea what Touhou was, so seeing it again now after being a Touhou fan for Almost 3 years makes this a very different experience.

I remember rooting for frisk so hard because i was a die hard undertale fan as a child and now a simp for sakuya from the hit game touhou

I remember there being a lot of drama over this fight. And honestly it makes sense, the powers of Undertale and Touhou characters both are rather vague most of the time! Chara, for example, can pretty much *nuke reality itself* by the end of the genocide run. To put it into perspective, compare this to *The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception* from Kinoko Nasu's works. To those that don't know, those possessing these mystic eyes can also kill concepts/apply a death state to certain things. They see lines and points of death, the former representing end of life, the latter representing end of existence. Spoiler, Shiki Tohno kills the existence of a corridor during one of the routes, it completely collapses the moment Shiki stabs it's point of death. Chara here, can do essentially a similar thing, they're so powerful at the end of the genocide route they can literally slash the world and it's timelines into non existence, a feat *even greater* than that of the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. But not as specialized, it likely wouldn't kill someone like Mokou without needing to destroy the entire world with it. Sakuya, on the other hand, has *ZA WARUDO-* ahem Manipulation of Time, and due to Time and Space being connected, she can control both, but her primary focus is time. It's why the Scarlet Devil Mansion is so huge on the inside, Sakuya made it a TARDIS. Of course, Sakuya can very much stop time for prolonged durations. Though as you can see she is stressed by overusing her ability. That said, I have no idea where all those "omnipotent Chara" and "dimensional warper Sakuya" comments come from. The former would be more accurately our favorite goat boi Asriel in his God of Hyperdeath form, and the latter seems to be Yukari Yakumo, with her ability to manipulate conceptual borders. TL;DR both were kinda overblown in the comments. As for what I think of the matchup? Frisk and Chara are surprisingly a good match to Sakuya. If they fail, they technically get unlimited lives, due to being able to RESET, only ever giving up if deciding the matchup is impossible. Sakuya has a MASSIVE combat advantage, but a max level Chara would be able to make quick work of her, they're a killer after all. Both fighters have powerful abilities, too much to properly calculate as factors, it's up to skill... As someone who performed genocide of all monsters, LV 20 Chara would have combat experience in *spades.* Having pretty much hunted down any beast that exists in the Underground. They know how to kill many things, and could easily apply that to humans too, even if they're not getting the "killing intent attack amplifier" the Monsters are oh so weak to. ... As the servant of the Scarlet Devil, Sakuya must have fought off dangerous rivals to Remilia Scarlet in the past. Plus, fighting off the incident masterminds in Gensokyo! She also has experience in spades. Both can win in my opinion. That said... How the heck did Sakuya access Frisk's menu?!

I'm not one to comment, but this hit me like a truck when It happened so I might as well say it. So I've been playing Touhou for about 2 years now, and I recently bought Fantastic Danmaku Festival. Once I hit stage 5 and the stage theme hit I was immediately reminded of one of the first videos that got me into the series.

I remember being an Undertale fan when this came out. Now I don't even play it anymore. I just suddenly became a really big Touhou fan.

Revisiting this video 6 years later, i devised a shottype for Chara and learning about Touhou and to an extent: Len'en Chara: Heart Locket Very slow movement, the ”shot” is just a melee range slash similar to Youmu, but only once and smaller. To give the benefit of doubt to UT fans, the attack instantly kills/skips a phase of the boss but pushes your character back to the bottom Bomb: True Knife ”World Ending Slash” Slashes the screen,clears all bullets giving ~2 seconds of invulnerability and instantly skips the boss phase/kills all enemies on screen. (Doesn't work on Stage 6 and EX boss because of thejr bomb immunity) HP? Nah fam in Touhou you get hit once, you die. Go to Len'en 4 if you want your pretty HP system

⁠ Just to clarify, even The Battle Cats can easily beat Undertale. Only problem would be Asriel, but to be honest, his “you cannot move” type of thing will not work with like any freeze immune cats, and there are 47 of these, if we don’t count talents. 8 attack is pitifully low even for The Battle Cats fodder units. I’m not even mentioning the fact that cats have the time machine canonically. And the fact that the cat army beat the galaxies-absorbing deity with ease. Twice. Frisk will not be a problem on any level, since in Undertale we could only hit one enemy at a time, so due to being single target Frisk would get mauled by overwhelming force of spamming meatshields, or just a couple of Metal Cats due to the fact that they can only take 1 damage, unless the hit was critical, and I don’t remember anyone in Undertale do critical damage. Damn, the Cat Army could even beat mighty sentient spacetime tear that manipulated continuum. Not even telling that they have realms-absorbing creatures as regular enemy and can easily beat mind-readers. But you can say, “mmh, frisk chara can erase the world”. Good luck, there are 3 worlds in «Empire of Cats», 3 worlds in «Into the Future», 3 worlds in «Cats of Cosmos», 1 «Aku Realm», many «Stories of legend», every of which has 4 stages of difficulty that can technically count as worlds, many «Uncanny Legends» that also have 4 stages of difficulty, and we have newly added «Zero Legends», and then we also have collaboration stages and monthly events. Canonically game even has alternate universes. And some units are confirmed to be omnidimensional. Respawning? Who cares, when cats can respawn as well and there is simply more of them? Seriously, currently there are more than 700 of units in game and they keep adding.

To the Undertale fans who complain about Touhou: you DO realize that Undertale's creator Toby Fox is a big Touhou fan? You wouldn't even have Undertale without the existence of Touhou in the first place. The entire fantastical creatures cut off from the outside world by a magical barrier thing? Touhou did it first! Industrialization of the underground where a group of ostracized creatures live? Touhou 11: Subterranean Animism. There's also Tsunderplane, some of the music is very Touhou-esque (Spear of Justice), and the entire final battle is full of Marisa-style rainbow stars and lasers. Seriously, look up Imperishable Night Stage 4B and compare. Touhou is a huge fandom that was around for ages before Undertale even existed. It has a ridiculous number of doujin circles dedicated to remixes (there's a compilation that's bigger than a terabyte), not to mention the quality of other fanmade art/videos/games is over the roof. So can you please just stop treating Touhou like some "weird vague anime thing" that's supposedly threatening your beloved Undertale and just calm down?
