If anything he should be happy for her! The insecurity if this man is insane, their family is well off, they can provide a great life for their kids and themselves, and they have more time to actually live. There's literally no downsides to her earning more, the onky thing preventing her or him being hapoy is his fragile ego and jealousy. I'm not sure I could take that, but it sounds like she still loves him very much, and that the man hasn't given up completely either, so couples counseling would be the first step. Maybe even individual therapy. But honestly, if he can't be happy for her or be hapoy himself in such a favourabke situation, I'm not sure the relationship can be saved. He doesn't sound like the type of person who's willing to admit they were wrong. Or even agree to tehraoy in the first place. I feel horrible for the wife, she's doing great in life, has two beautiful children with him, and he still can't be happy for her or in general because of his own toxic mindset. What a joke. Your partner should be the ones who's the happiest for you, who's the most supportive and proud of your achievements. The one ti uplift you, not the other way around. He's failing as a partner.

So I think this is kind of related to gender role expectations. How women fret over their bodies because society says you have to look good for your partner. Well men’s gender role expectations is you have to earn good money to be able to provide. He’s probably feeling like he has no use to you and that you’ll realize that soon and leave him. Like how women believe they’ve become uglier or heavier and their husbands will leave them. No matter how much you tell them that’s not true you have to keep telling them until they believe it and that can take a while. It’s not selfish. It is insecurity but why do we attack men for insecurity but when a woman starts crying and bawling because her husband starts working out again and looking better that the husband should comfort her even though she’ll start assuming he’s gonna cheat on her. It’s the same thing happening here. All girls live they’re told if you don’t keep up your looks he’s gonna leave you. And guys are told if you don’t keep up being the bread winner and being good in bed she’s gonna leave you. It’s honestly stupid to have either stereotypes yet it’s more normalized/acceptable for women to be insecure and that they are just having a rough time because how society raised them but when men have insecurities because of society’s standards they are pathetic and selfish? What kind of broken logic is that

You're not the a****** and yeah he may have the writer's own emotions but he shouldn't take them out on you it's like he's still thinks he's in the are aware of women are homemakers or when they just starting to be allowed to work in the workplace it's because of men like that why women still get underpaid compared to men
