It seems like yesterday this thing erupted, and what better time than now to sit back and watch the entire eruption (so far) happen in only 15 minutes.
The lava flow is mesmerizing!

This happens in Hawaii all the time. What’s rare about this isn’t to eruptions or lava flow but that this is a new volcano mound/hill being born. It is very impressive to see how fast they grow from level ground which is one thing we don’t see in Hawaii.

Nothing gives you as good a sense of just how insanely hot lava is, as does a volcanic eruption in a snowy place. Just look at how far away from the actual flow the snow ends up melting. Another excellent way is to throw a wooden object in and watch it catch fire before actually hitting the lava.

The time lapse gives you so much more information than watching in real time. It is easy to see how enentire huge island is really doable within a short geologic time span. Hell, even in a humans lifetime, if this were kept up at this rate for 20 years, you could be looking at another 50% added to Iceland. And, if these fissures really tore open and began pouring the lava Dinosaur style?!!! WOW! wow, wow, WOOOW!!!
