@Landotter1 No, if you look at an alternator while its in a car, The crank pulley is about twice as large as the alternators pulley. So when the car engine is turning 5,000 RPM the alternator is 10,000RPM or whatever the ratio happens to be in that car. He has it the other way around.

@mountain177 its the other way round buddy, the pulley on the alternator is 4 times as big as the engine pulley so the engine must turn 4 times for the alternator to turn once

@kens97sto171 the ratio is 4 to 1. the alternator turns 4 times for every 1 turn of the engine.

i designed one which uses special axial flux alternator inside an enclosed case... its puts out 450 Watt at 8000 RPM

Seems like that thing would be super useful to have if you had alot of cars in a lot or some other situation where you deal with dead batteries more then normal No need to bother using your own car to jump the other ones, just hook this up and give it a few mins.

You could put an "Dynastart" or equal instead of an normal alternator, so you would have an el. start integrated without using more space. Like that you could install the Micro-Gen. in a very hidden place. (That would be perfect for my Pickup. I need often alot of 12V power for work (eg winch) and have to idle my car even i have a second battery. I would replace one Battery with that and i even could start it from the inside of my car (dont forget the killswitch)). ;) Are you selling them?

i did this same trick with a 3.5hp lawnmower engine and i know i could not put that much of a load on it befor it would stall it cant see this doing much more then maybe charging a batter if it aint that dead that is

Haha thats a zenoah rc style engine isnt it? They use those on gopeds. That engine is really reliable but a g23lh would be even better. That engine revs higher so it doesnt last as long

Yeah lets see a load put on it. Stall that weed wacker motor right out.

If you changed the alternator to a permanent magnet alternator you would have better luck with getting more amps out of it.The field windings steal allot of power from that small motor.There isn't any armature windings in the PM alt.And it doesn't require a battery.

No..an Alternator! A Generator JUST needs to spin..."free power" An Alternator MUST have an electrical input to complete the assembly, & it provides a bit MORE power than a Generator. Generators are really a thing of the past..only found on bicycles & pocket flashlights, or crank radios...some mini "Honda" type camping supply..(they are really limited power) Alternators are the new standard.when it comes to emergency & backup power..

A micro what? Field excitation current controller? An automotive alternator needs internal modification to run in a low horsepower application. Have you done this? Basicaly I don't give a rip about efficiency. Its worth a tank of gas for a one shot main engine start and get home.
