I'll go with a lot of that. It's often said that WW2 was caused by the failure of the Treaty of Versailles to provide a solution the German people could live with. I'd say that the war in Ukraine is a consequence of the Russian failure to move past WW2(Russian sacrifice etc. was a vital part of Soviet propaganda intended to keep the masses quiet) and the subsequent failure of glasnost. Putin was also greatly encouraged by Trump's reckless abandonment of Afghanistan which sent a clear message of non-engagement. I don't see any culpability on the part of American generals. If you want aggressive military types have a conversation with Croatian military officers, as I had on one occasion, and walk away with grey hair.
