I wish him the best of health as well.....as far as recuperation goes, I'm afraid what Phil has is chronic....it's not going to go away and it's only going to eventually get worse as time goes on 😞 All Phil can do is do his nerve exercises and to try and stay somewhat active. With stem cell therapies being available now, who knows? maybe Phil will regain some feeling and mobility in his foot and hands again someday. Phil Collins drumming on Abacab is nothing short of sensational. He had so much success as a solo artist, songwriter, singer and all round character that his brilliance as a drummer is almost undermined, if not overlooked. He is quite simply the best drummer I have ever seen.

I was never a huge Genesis fan growing up (during their heyday) but my disappointment in the newer artists of today brought me back to have another listen. Wow. I had forgotten just how prolific they were. Phil Collins is such a great frontman. I’ve never seen someone so comfortable on stage. He’s just up there being Phil. Such a distinct and enduring voice. Yeah, I was a dumb teenager for not recognizing just how great these guys were/are. Wish I would’ve seen them live. Those of you who have.....congratulations.

Recognized their talent around 1975 when I was in High School thanks to a friend. First exposure was "Selling England by the Pound" followed by "The Lam Lays Down on Broadway". By the time "A Trick of the Tail" was released I was totally hooked and I was following both Genesis and Peter Gabriel. I only got to see Genesis in concert twice (and Peter G solo once) but those shows were all very memorable. I got to be in the front row at the show in Ottawa around1982 because I was bringing a handy-capped friend with me. What an experience that was to looking up at them from about 6 feet away. Phil even put the mic in my face during "I know what I like (in your wardrobe)"
@robertsnee9972Рік тому
@@langerking I was 15 and thanks to an older brother, I discovered "The Lamb" in 1975. A couple of my friends caught the Lamb tour and I regret missing that. Saw Genesis 3 times and Peter once, at the same Orpheum Theater in Boston I had seen Genesis from the 3rd row, two weeks earlier.
@langerkingРік тому
@@robertsnee9972 you have those great memories of watching Genesis live, I can visualize those concerts still in my head, nearly 50 years later! Wish I had seen the "Lamb" show as well, but I am content with what I've been able to experience. Genesis, Supertramp and The Police were the best performers I ever got to see.

At 47, I think I can say and admit that I'm old now. Because I fail to recognize talent in the new generation of so-called musicians, and I'm just not moved by today's music. Now, music like this concert, it makes me want to cry. And I think of how great I had it growing up, and just didn't know. There was just so much great music. I enjoyed some of it and there's still a lot to be enjoyed. Genesis is one of those bands that existed on the fringes for me. I am lucky to have been gifted a CD, so I was able to listen to it. Wish I had been to one of their concerts. It must have been blissful.

I used to work in 1987 in East-Berlin as an Hungarian Citizen. The same concert delivered by Genesis in July in the very same year in West-Berlin in front of the Bundestag-building then Reichstag. Just few days before I bought a music center in West-Berlin and recorded the concert in RIAS II ( Radio in American Sector) so that I could hear the voice of Phil life behind the Wall. Amazing, never forgotten! The best concert in my life.

We had such great musicians that had a professional competition with each other that seemed to pump them into creating some fantastic music. We danced, drank, sang and knew every word at significant events of our lives. This music brings us back to that time we were at a party, a wedding, a concert, hanging outside in the middle of the summer, car stereo blaring with Genisis. It bound us together as a huge group that could quote or sing a line from so many of their songs. And it is music written by people using instruments they actually played by people who studied and endlessly practiced and experimented with tones/voices/. BC..Before computers. They are in that music showing us what joy the have in bringing it to us. Love playing this loud and dancing and singing
