I had a blind cat that only lived for a year. She had neurlogical damage herself and used to run in circles and bobbed right and left. It isnt about how long they live, it is about giving them a home for as long as they live. And you are doing a great job!

Quality of life whilst they live is all that matters, even if life is short sometimes. As an adult I've owned cats for nearly 50 yrs and that has always been my guiding rule.

@@nicholasvalentine3907 You just have to give back of what you have. After my blind cat died, I adopted a second blind cat. And what a big chunky boy he is. He runs down the stairs faster than my other cats, is wild and a force of nature. Absolutely healthy and in all aspects perfect. There is no reason not to get a blind cat and not to give them all the love you can but they are still special cats that need special homes for their needs. I hope that more people start to give back to animals in need like in the video.

The best part of what might be a heartbreaking story is that Pip is not unhappy, not worried about the future, not worried about his condition. He is living his best life day by day, and you are making that possible. What a gift to a lovely animal.

Pip is absolutely adorable, so sad he has that condition, but he knows he's loved. I adopted a special needs cat, he's only got 3 legs, he's deaf and brain damaged (he was hit by a car), but out of all my cats he's the most loving cat I've ever had, he loves hugs. My other cats know not to be rough with him. All life is precious, thank you for caring for Pip.

The shelter I work at recently saw one of our special needs cats adopted. He also has three legs due to being born with a deformity that required amputation. He’s also deaf and partially blind. But he’s such a sweet thing and before he went to his forever home, he had gotten quite good at hopping around on his three legs.

I think that Pip doesn't consider himself to be handicapped - to him, everything is just "life as usual." The biggest blessing for Pip is that he is included in everything, with his buddies Indy and Murphy, his toys, and especially his loving Mom. He's a lucky little boy. Bless you all.

Yes they really can. My baby boy was sick and both of my cats were grooming him and keeping an eye on him. Obviously sometimes cats avoid that cat also but I’m lucky to have a big bundle of love from my trio of cats 🐱

I recently lost my special needs furbaby, who also had a degenerative neurological condition. I just wanted to say, I can see & hear you are giving your cats a wonderful home, where they are safe, happy & healthy. When it comes to special needs furbabies, it's all about the quality of life, not the quantity. We may not get all the time in the world with them, but we can love & appreciate them for the time that we have.

I totally agree had 3 special needs kitty's 2 were born that way 1 was hit by a car & lost her leg & shoulder but they are 14 yrs old now & still don't know their special needs . They amaz me every day . Like when they try to climb my curtains it's funny to watch but I love them just the same their the best part of my life every day 💓 💕

I don't know if I am tearing up of sadness seeing this angel struggle or the fact that he is such a fighter and he does not let his medical issues slow him down? Either case, I pray that Pip is always surrounded by love, understanding, patience, and care. He is a special angel and those in his life are a blessing. And thank you for not abandoning him or seeing him as something to pity and put down.

Pip is a hero. I remember when my sons had a friend with cerebral palsy, and he was determined to do everything they did. He was such a brave hero for all of us. Sometimes they helped him, but most of the time he did everything by himself. He was lucky that he could walk and run in his own style. These heroes are reminders to all of us to get up and show up for life.

My daughter has cerebellar hyperplasia diagnosed in utero and doctor's told me to abort! Atrophy is my biggest fear. They said she would have no future. She was delivered at uc Davis with 20 doctors waiting on a disaster. Guess what? Shes gorgeous. Its hard as hell but she walks with alot of falls and bumbs on her noggin. Thank goodness i didn't listen! Her life and every life is valuable!🙏❤

This woman is a keeper with her love of animals ... there is a guy out there for you... I met my girlfriend 6 years ago at the Vet she was having a breakdown About the dog she had there Told me she.lived in apartment And 2 cats and Female pitty She was having neighbor issues And landlord issues about the pets I offered my small building at farm With small guest house to house Her rescues... fast forward 6 yrs 8 rescue horses 5 cats 2 pitts 3 birds .. and various fosters Yes woman Will find a guy with Same care for critters ... lol The girl I met the puppy has Same type of conditions Walking somewhat improved But definitely has it made with us

her kitty has a support kitty. such a joy to watch. my cat Apple had necrosis of the hip a "dog disease' I had to take her to another vet to be properly diagnosed. She is happy and fine without her hipjoints.

Aw, I had a cat with a degenerative condition in its hind legs that walked similarly. But she was an angel. Playing a lot helped her strengthen her legs and lift spirits. We had a game she loved where she would jump into a bean bag after a toy. Give a special needs cat the love they deserve.

Remember that old thing where someone says "I'm not crying, you're crying"? Yeah, I never bought into that. But watching this, yeah, I'm crying, pretty sure you are too, or at least tearing up and your chest it tight. This is so sad, and uplifting. If he's still when he's sleeping, I find that very interesting. Is there something that can mimic sleep but keep him awake? You hold him and he improves. So glad he has you🤗

Care in this sort of thing is supportive, that is treating symptoms with occupational therapy tools. At 1:17 you can see one of these. Because it is a deep brain structure causing the problem medications will basically fail, and have too many unpleasant side effects.

I was also thinking that. I would love to see some gentle research done for Pip, where, maybe, a better quality of life can be had. The best thing is Pip has this beautiful woman, and Murphy, and Indy 💖

@@wombat.6652 I’m wondering if CBD could help. I’ve seen it help animals with seizure issues that couldn’t be helped with other medications.

Pip is a beautiful cat. Its obvious he loves his support friend. I think the other cats realize there's something special about him. I hope Pip has a long happy life. He's certainly determined to be as normal a cat as his housemates.

Never seen a cat with this condition before. Hopefully he'll remain stable and won't get worse. He has a pretty good life with these people. 😸

Unfortunately, it is a progressive, degenerative condition. He has declined significantly, and rapidly. He's barely a year old!

@@Agentfirestarter it's degenerative which means it will continue to get worse. From my understanding, it won't kill him directly, but it will eventually cause his quality of life to be such that a decision will need to be made.

Pips' attitude and heart is what I love about animals. I am an Occupational Therapist and have worked for years in nursing home rehab centers all over the western US. I cannot tell you how many times I have gone to get a patient for therapy because of a stroke or hip or knee replacement, only to get whines of "I can't, I can't, I hurt". My old dog buddy had a stroke just recently, and just like your little Pip, he never even thought about what he could NOT do. He just went right ahead and did what he could. And he is still doing just that. No whines, no feeling sorry for himself or wanting you to feel sorry for him, just takes one day at a time and lucky for us, he improves a little each day. I love that you are giving Pip his best life ever. With that heart and that can do attitude, he deserves it. I thank my God for people like you.

With Indy and Murphy being there and treating Pip like he's just like them just sweetens the pot of love makes my heart melt!! Humans need to learn life skills by watching the animals! If I had to choose between humans or animals it would be animals hands down!
