As a prehistoric archaeologist, I'm absolutely chuffed about your idea for another video you mentioned at the end. Semi-related is the fact that archaeology is a field that is still very patriarchal and literally erases women. As an example, the Grave of Vix in France - which was long believed to belong to a powerful man until the skeleton was reexamine and turned out to be a woman's. Or how the skeletons in Hallstatt, Austria show that women were not just working in the house but show clear signs of being responsible for carrying heavy loads out of the salt mine there. Modern idea of gender and gender roles blind us from the historical truth

idk if that falls within your realm of expertise, but do you think the emergence of monotheistic religion could have something to do with the erasure of women? i mean in the last few millenia definitely , but like as the starting point of it all?

Yup exactly!! Archaeologist here, too. Even though there are so many women in our field!!! It's wild. The patriarchy in our society today in general is still strong as ever.

@@Kstanimal and I feel is getting stronger, the backlash that seems inevitable when women try to tell "herstory"!!! Just look at Roe V Wade in US....Gillead already exists there, Margaret Attwood was spot on with her book!!

Another great find! I'm American and had never heard of a potential female spy in the revolutionary war... How often are we overlooked though? There were probably dozens, if not hundreds...💪👏

Where I live, we have the Brewster Sisters, who were Revolutionary Spies and assisted the soldiers by providing food, lodging and ammunition. They were known to hide soldiers and melt down their silver and such to make bullets. They were quite the ladies.

I live in Connecticut and it's funny because I learned about this period of US history over & over & over again to the point where I dreaded it every time it re-emerged in the school curriculum. I wanted to learn about +anything+ else. Yet, here I am at 33 & re-learning details I was taught 848382 times but had forgotten since high school graduation.😂 Thank you for covering this topic! I had never heard about "Lady" or "Agent 355" before at all. It was very interesting to hear the different theories & how her likely existence seemed to greatly benefit the US & intersect with different famous historical events.

I like your idea of an episode about how women have been ignored throughout history. It seems like it would probably be extremely difficult to research. Maybe you could tie in matriarchal societies as a compare/contrast?

this was really interesting, have you ever thought about becoming a history teacher? at first i was like 'eh, american settler history doesn't interest me much, i'll watch it bc i like georgia', then two minutes later i was hooked 😂

This was really good Georgia, could you do one on the French revolution, and the impact it had on Britain & Ireland, how the 1798 Irish rebellion broke out & the first Irish Republic was proclaimed & how 30,000 people lost their lives in the rebellion within the space of 5 months, please?

It's funny I'm pretty good at American history in history in general I'm a bit of a history geek I'm from Boston I know a good amount about British history going back but I didn't even know about the spiral until I came across the AMC series Turn Washington spies. A great series of course Anna strong. Was a big part of it. Thanks for your great video

From what I understand from British friends they don't like to talk about it. We don't really teach enough about the Vietnam war in this country it was a failure. For the British losing what went on to become a great country of the USA. I wouldn't want to spend a lot of time teaching people about that either 😊

Thank you for the vid x It makes me so sad that an enslaved woman may have helped save/make the very same USA that treats PoC (esp black women) so badly even to this day and it's not ending anytime soon. Like good for her for fighting for what she believed in and winning, but if she saw the future of the USA I wonder if she would have?

Many think that Paul Revere's propaganda picture of the Boston massacre is what really got things heated. Then the quartering of British troops here in our beautiful historical Boston which of course is the big reason behind the 3rd . It was a whole bunch of things like shutting off colonial trade my blockading the harbor and leading up to the whole. The tea party was part of the icing on the cake.
