Berlin, Germany.
Various shots of German troops marching (goose-stepping) past Governor Admiral Horthy, Regent of Hungary in a huge military parade. German children watching in the crowds make the Nazi salute. Soldiers on horseback, large artillery guns and army tanks also take part in the parade.
Commentator talks of the new field gun with a barrel forty feet long that appeared for the first time here - "Cameramen were forbidden to photograph it... on pain of being charged with treason. No cameraman did photograph it - cameramen prefer to keep their heads!"
BRITISH PATHÉ'S STORY
Before television, people came to movie theatres to watch the news. British Pathé was at the forefront of cinematic journalism, blending information with entertainment to popular effect. Over the course of a century, it documented everything from major armed conflicts and seismic political crises to the curious hobbies and eccentric lives of ordinary people. If it happened, British Pathé filmed it.
Now considered to be the finest newsreel archive in the world, British Pathé is a treasure trove of 85,000 films unrivalled in their historical and cultural significance.
British Pathé also represents the Reuters historical collection, which includes more than 136,000 items from the news agencies Gaumont Graphic (1910-1932), Empire News Bulletin (1926-1930), British Paramount (1931-1957), and Gaumont British (1934-1959), as well as Visnews content from 1957 to the end of 1984. All footage can be viewed on the British Pathé website. www.britishpathe.com/

@@georgehare2915 Since they were "far from best simply better equipped", how does that explain that it took the combined efforts of the Allied forces 4 years to defeat a small country? And explain the continuing fascination with the WW2 German military, with all the books, documentaries, and movies that have been made. And a lot of new devices were introduced by the Germans during WW2, which are the basis of modern weapons: The Kevlar helmet of the U.S. Army today is based on the design of the WW2 German Stahlhelm. The MG34/42 Mauser is still being used today, albeit renamed the MG-3. Germany and 30 countries are still using "Hitler's Buzz Saw" today (same insane rate of fire). The STG-44 was predecessor of assault rifles. Modern anti-tank weapons that are recoilless rifles (Panzerfaust). The Enigma encryption machine that baffled Allied code breakers for a long time. As early as 1939, the first night-vision devices were introduced by the German Army. The Luftwaffe's planes were fuel-injected, which allowed for inverted flight. Allied aircraft used carburetors, which did not allow for inverted flight. The fuel would drop out of the carburetor and the engine would stall out. Jet-engine powered aircraft were introduced, but too late in the war to help Germany. Other innovations introduced by Germany during WW2: Guided weapons Long-range missiles Airborne units Helicopters Panzer III was the first of German Panzers to be equipped with an intercom system for in-tank communication. Tiger I was armed with a powerful 88 mm gun and its thick armor made it virtually indestructible. The prototype of the modern freeway system was inspired by the Autobahn, starting in 1933. The Volkswagen (the "People's Car") was introduced in 1938. Hitler thought each family should have a small, inexpensive car. Johannes Gutenberg invented the first printing press in 1450. Hans Geiger invented the Geiger Counter (which measures radiation) in 1911. Germany, the land of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Goethe & Schiller, Richard Wagner, Mozart, Johann Strauss II, and Bruckner. The land of philosophers Kant, Schopenhauer, and Nietzsche. Other inventions from Germany that are used today: Bayer Aspirin, invented by German chemist, Felix Hoffman, in 1900. Bacteriology - In 1870, Robert Koch discovered bacteria, after livestock in Europe was affected by a mysterious disease. Contact lenses, as we know them today, were invented in 1888. X Rays, discovered by Wilhelm Rontgen, in 1895. Diesel engines were invented in 1896. Bunsen Burners were invented in 1857. Electron microscopes were invented in 1931. Tape Recorder - Magnetic tape recording was developed during the 1930s at Germany's BASF. MP3 Music Format first appeared in 1992. Now, what were you saying about "there a blurb in history books" ? BTW, the proper spelling is "they're", not "there".
