No, Trevor was wrong about the 8th round predicament. In the 8th round Devin didn't need a knockout to win. If Devin could establish his job and won the last couple rounds he would have won the fight but after the 8th round he got dropped in the 10th and the 11th and that's what sealed the deal. But prior to that, Devin was actually winning the fight most of the fight up until like the 7th or 8th round. Once eighth round hit it was probably close to even and then if Devin would have just did his style of boxing for round 9 through 12, he would have won the fight probably easily by points . You got to remember Ryan wasn't really doing a whole lot from like round two all the way up to the round six or seven until Ryan caught him in the 7th and knock them down. What Tarver said about Devin needing a knockout in a 8th round I believe is what May Devin lose the fight because Devin probably thought he needed to knock out to win the fight at that point but I don't think he did he should have just resettled and reestablished himself after that knocked down in the 7th got his legs back under him and got his job back going and he would have probably won the fight but I think someone must have been telling him he needs a knockout to win but in my opinion I think he just wanted to get his lick back he was so mad that he got knocked down that he wanted to get Ryan back to even the score and that was Devin's downfall. He shouldn't have left that knock down hurt his ego, he should have shook it off and went back to his style of boxing

Firing your Dad is not the right approach. You can hire another trainer or a lot of them, but his dad got him this far in a lot of ways.

Haney normally runs and counters and finds opening. But that night Garcia made him chase and kept walking into Garcia left hand. He got hit early with it and felt the power which resulted in haneys gameplan gone out the window. Garcia made Haney look like an amateur that night as Haney couldn’t adjust nor had any complexity in his game plan.

Ryan was confident in this fight because he knew Devin would come in the fight angry,you can't fight angry,and that anger wasn't Devin anger it was bills.so he fought for his father and not himself and through out all the skills he has,had he came in calm as usual he would of made better decisions during the fight and could have gotten him the win.bill has to go

It nice being the father/trainer until the fighter hits an unexpected turn of events. It's a judgement call for the fighter and a dissapointment for the trainer/father. You have to be greatful for the success you acheived as a trainer. A humbling moment. A hurt piece. Business is business. Never mix family and business. If you started with them, you may not end with them.

He was for sure fighting angrily/out of emotion; Ryan got under his skin all throughout the promo press run. It showed when dev face mushed Ryan. I knew then Ryan was getting to him. Things like that aren’t in Devins usual character.

I've heard stories about people who have seen Haney sparr, Bill is just over bearing over every aspect of Devin's career. I'm told everytime they clinch in sparring Bill shouts 'BREAK' cause he never lets Devin get in close, how is the kid gonna learn what to do in those isutation or pracitse his craft if daddy shouts break which the sparring partner will always follow? That's just 1 example.

I look forward to Haney coming back. These younger fighters need to get over the idea of having an unblemished record. Losses are necessary to coming back stronger.
