Girl Abducted by Sasquatch. The Seraphine Long account.

This is the story of Seraphine Long. A young native girl who was reportedly taken captive and even impregnated by a male Sasquatch in British Columbia Canada sometime in the mid to late 1800s. I retell her story here and give my thoughts at the end about what this may possibly tell us about the nature of the Sasquatch. True story? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Great story, David! It’s fascinating that this story existed a half century before the so-called “bigfoot craze.” Many of these stories existed before the broad public fascination. I think you ask the right question here… Was it just a story, or a true story?

Thank you, Andy! I've always found this old account intriguing as it speaks of characteristics of the sasquatch that are very different from modern reports.

Interesting story Dave. Do you think Albert Ostman had access to this tale? Very similar to his own experience in some important ways. I've never heard this particular story before and sure am glad you shared it. Keep up the great work!! BTW Love your books, highly recommend them to all.

A very detailed account to happen for that time especially for a Native American girl. Happenings didn’t travel fast in those days. Probably more true than not imo

Fantastic story. I took see the similarities of the ostman story. That was the first thing I thought of. For a really interesting thought experiment, when you have the time, set back and close your eyes and put yourself in the wild, then put yourself in the shoes of the young lady in the story..... Try to imagine that whole situation. Damn that would be truly wild.

Dave this account really hit home for me. The Sasquatch I saw was very human looking. In fact I often described him as beautiful. He had very Native features but was covered in long shiny black hair. Often wondered if it was the offspring of a native woman. Could it be a missing link to the stories told of native women being abducted by the people of the forest.

I have heard this story before. There are tribal stories of women and children being stolen by these things. None had ever heard of any of them being returned though. If the creatures can preserve animal skins then why do they not wear any type of clothing? They do not have thick fur like a typical animal from the descriptions of them. They would need additional coverage during the long cold winter. I doubt that the story is true.

Good points. It is an old historical sasquatch story. Whether or not it actually happened, I doubt we'll ever know.

What the heck! She was pregnant With a half Sasquatch baby?! That’s sad that it died,but I was wondering, did they kidnap her to be the wife maybe? It sounds like a sad story because the male Sasquatch could not find a mate and she was kidnapped. Too bad they couldn’t have lived happily ever after 😂
