you never really know what it’s like to be a dancer until you are part of it. It’s like a separate little community and the feeling doing a show/ competition is so unique and you don’t think a bit anything else. It’s like a little community that you are part of

I can do the splits but I am afraid to do them without warming up a bit because one time when I was younger, I did them without warming up first and I got this sharp INTENSE pain which didn't fully go away for an hour or two!

I would love to be a ballerina, but the only type I like is the more energetic, like at Sab. My leg flexibility has always been a huge issue for me, while my back and feet came easy. My ankles are weak to do that kind of stuff and I'm in gymnastics. I don't know if I want to put that kind of commitment to become a professional or just as a hobby. My splits I had for like a week at one point before getting injured and I couldn't get it since. My dancer split is fine, or pigeon pose, has different names. Are there any stretches anybody recommends? Thanks!

What do I do if I’ve been dancing for years and have gained zero flexibility. I get sharp pain in my hip but mostly my knees, they feel like they’re going to rip apart and it’s extremely painful.

Ballet teacher here. Please dont push yourself unless you know how to stretch correctly, and know what you're doing. You can hurt your body at most, and at least, your teacher will get mad because your alignment is wrong

Yes, ballet dancers always do the exercises on both sides. She may have been standing that way for the camera of because her right leg is her more stable leg.
