A wonderful ambassador for our God. God is working through him. Christianity is the only logical answer to why we are here. What's more, we don't just believe it, we feel it right at the core of our souls. It's a beautiful thing to possess, so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes with its wonder. Science has and still is a great topic to me since my youth but one of the greatest reasons why I've always been so interested in science is this is my point of view science has brought an understanding and an aww to be amazed in his works and how much he loves us

This is quite brilliant. Big fan of Lennox. Richard Dawkins has been known to say that the more we learn through science, the less we will need God. That is the story of The Tower of Babel all over again. Denying God for self-glorification. We all know how that story ended.

It is refreshing to listen to someone who has studied widely, and thought long and deeply. John Lennox is highly intelligent and is not ashamed of it! His book “God’s Undertaker” is a powerful summary of what is known across many scientific disciplines; it is packed full of rigorous science and philosophy. So he is worthy of our respect and attention. Listening honestly and quietly to the whole of this talk may be the best 90 minutes you will ever enjoy.

Lenox is not an insault But a soul saver, my faith in God would never be changed, thanks to Lenox for a great reminder so i have to maintain my belief and faith in God.

I'm an evolutionist but I must say Lennox has made me think seriously about my logics and reasoning

I think Mr. Lennox is a great Christian apologist of our time. I do recall in my college days while taking a course on the History of Christianity by an esteemed Christian professor of history at the University of Washington. He suggested that contrary to Mr. Lennox's conclusion that Christ would have detested religious wars of any kind, that in certain circumstances they may be inevitable if not necessary. The UW professor said nothing more about it but he seemed to be referring to the Byzantine wars with the Muslims as they moved north into Europe spreading their religion and killing Christians who refused to be converted. Many historians have concluded that had the Byzantine Empire not fought against the Arab encroachments of the ninth and tenth centuries, that Europe would have become a Muslim continent, rather than a Christian one and that it was only the Byzantine army that stopped it. The same may be said of the Moors and their conquest of southern Spain. Granted, Christian passivism did overcome Rome but it hasn't to this day had much influence in the Arab countries and beyond. I noticed that Mr. Lennox cleverly avoids those issues when he says, " They will have to speak for themselves," and for good reason. It opens up a can of worms, the same can that the crusaders couldn't avoid. But I love John Lennox and admire his strength and courage to confront the smartest enemies of Christianity head on. Just like an Irishman would.

This was the BEST explanation and illustration of miracles not breaking the laws of nature I have ever heard. In fact I don’t think I have heard an explanation before. Thank you, Professor Lennox. Amazing reason and undeniable logic. (that illustration is about 37 mins into the video.)

Very interesting. I was considering this also. If we are simply logic machines (i.e. thought processes capable of being simulated), then how can we truly love, appreciate art, feel music... Is it all just neurons firing at the right times based on past experiences, with a few chemical reactions thrown into the mix? Personally I believe that we are much more than that, although I'm still researching the idea.

Science is mostly using data and INTERPRETING it with logic and agreement. We only agree that 2=2 because society deems it to be such. Science has failed us at times, and that's okay. But when you put God in this equation, beauty and meaning in life ensues and saves lives. Science cannot do such marvelous works.

i have a sneaking suspicion that early 1900's america would've heard this lecture and thought to themselves, "wow, people really need to be told this type of common sense stuff?" but after about 100 yrs of secualism redefining things, and getting rid of offensive foundations for thought, this lecture is considered educational. which scientist was it that said when the scientist finally reaches the peak of the mtn he finds a theologian ("her pulpits were aflame...") sitting there waiting.

He's not conflicted. Both Guth and Vilenkin have admitted their theorem does NOT show the universe itself had a beginning. And Guth and Vilenkin spurn the idea of evoking a God to solve the issue.

Bill, if rather than forcing a person a "lake of fire" God merely allows them to choose their own destiny, is it unjust? It seems to me He would be unjust if He did not allow us choice, but imposed His will upon us. Justice only makes sense if it is fair and unbiased meted by one who has a right to do so. Since we are all sinners, only a perfect and holy God can exercise justice. The issue is that God came as one of us (Jesus) to draw us to God (in the person of the Holy Spirit). That is just!

I have always believed that it is either deism or naturalism, faith or science. As a former agnostic, I always had a problem with the fact that science can't answer every question about our existence. There are still unanswered inquiries into how our world works. But it still has the audacity to claim it has answered the biggest, most complex question in the universe: Does God exist?

I can't wait to tell somebody that I no longer believe in Henry Ford because I know how a Ford works. This is genius. I have often told by atheist friends that just because you think you can explain something doesn't mean that God doesn't exist.

Thanks for this video, haven't watched till the end, but it made me looked at Hebrew's definition of faith. And I think what's meant by faith is motivation. Our faith is our motivation.

I would challenge Dawkins to experiment with the teachings of Jesus by implementing the teachings in his life. He will discover the values and benefits of the Christian way of life, and likely fall in love with Jesus! I suspect he wouldn't dare take the challenge.

It is the stories of Christianity that dragged along the ancient Greeks Philosophies that allowed Christianity and Science. It was not Christianity that aided Science, but ancient Greek Philosophy alone that brought us Science. Christianity was what had to be overcome that allowed for Science from the ancient Greeks.

If we consider emotion as an expression of desire, it cannot be correctly claimed that an animal or an atom having desire for this or that, does not have emotions and that between them are not simply degrees of expressive ability.

Listen: Does God exist? Science tells us that a probability of less than 1 chance in 10^150th is basically an impossibility. However, when calculating the probability of all the variables involved in creating a universe coming together where life could exist is 1 chance in 10^450th. Basically, it is impossible by a factor of 10^300th. So, we must conclude that there is a VERY intelligent being, who is responsible for our being here. There are, of course, many other proofs in science of biblical truth and authenticity. But don't take my word for it. Don't be afraid of God, check it for yourself!

To answer the question, as Wiki puts it, the LHC was built with "the aim of allowing physicists to test the predictions of different theories of particle physics and high-energy physics, and particularly prove or disprove the existence of the hypothesized Higgs boson and of the large family of new particles predicted by supersymmetric theories. The LHC is expected to address some of the most fundamental questions of physics, advancing human understanding of the deepest laws of nature."

A key feature of reason is meaningful thinking. If our minds are not autonomous thinking agents but something more like a torrent of falling dominoes over which we exercise no real dominion then we cannot trust that our perceptions are ultimately reliable. This is a prime example of logical incoherence and to put it as simply as possible the sentiment is as follows: “I have rationally discovered that there is no such thing as rationality.”

I love how science proves God

Some people are going to believe whatever they choose to believe despite the evidence or proof to the contrary. We all have the same science, the same knowledge and information available to us, but its our presuppositions which interpret that evidence/information. Dr. Lennox presented the best lesson one can give for the existence of God. If it's not enough at that foundational level, then it will never be enough.

The philosophical presuppositions I make are 1) the universe exists; 2) we can learn something about it, with our mind's capacity to create models of reality; 3) models with predictive capability are more useful than those without. From this has come the scientific method, which coupled with reason/logic, has advanced our understanding (and manipulation of) the natural world significantly, to our benefit. Regarding cause & effect, what is there to show that reality (or universe) has a cause?

I think one thing athiests may not consider..... If we believers are wrong, we have nothing to lose do We? If death is all and the end. But if atheists are wrong, they have EVERYTHING to lose. If there is a God and a heaven n hell, then you choose an eternal damnation. What an ultimate gamble!! Not saying I believe only because "just in case" I believe because of all the evidence. This thought is just something I think everyone needs to consider. Especially if your beliefs are based on no evidence, upbringing, or sheer ignorance. God bless you all my brothers and sisters.

I'm not taking anything out of context. I am merely pointing out God's intentions in His own words, which is the heart of the matter. He clearly had a problem with mankind acting in a cohesive and unified way, as one people accomplishing great things (like making a really tall tower). I am merely asking why He would prefer mankind to be a scattered, disorganized and scattered people. Why do you think He would prefer that?

The Christian faith is like a long rope pulled tight. In one direction the rope stretches out behind us, disappearing into the distance past. The rope is anchored in that direction at a point at which the God who created all things, including time, became a human being in our time, lived, suffered, died ans was raised again from the dead. The rope runs straight and true from that distant anchor planted long ago in our history, into the dim future, our future, which we are told is ultimately gathered into God’s eternal present, the “eternal now,” to borrow Paul Tillich’s phrase…. “ is there any meaning to it [our transient and insignificant existence] all?” we ask. Many voices answer, “No”. There is no meaning except perhaps the meaning we wish to assign to life.” But Brunner reminds us,” The Word of God, the Creator of all these suns and races” say, “Yes! You mean something ! You mean something to God!” We have meaning, Brunner says, because we belong to God, who created us and because the God who created us loves what he made. Well the best example is sitting on a hot stove, you 'know' the low quality of this situation and you jump off again, so it was something of a figure of speech. This pre-intellectual event is an experience of value, in this case it's the low value that makes you jump off before you are burned.

I did read your post; you just didn't understand why I brought it up in response. You asked "what hungry children are you feeding if you have such moral convictions for change for the better" in relation to my motivation, and I not only mentioned my own personal experience, but why belief in God is irrelevant to that issue. @Bill Davis: to understand why God did that, back up a bit. Part of the speech of the people is, "and let us make a name for ourselves." In this regard, they believed they could reach Heaven on their own merits, thus discarding the need for God. God says, "nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them." It is for self glory that they build, a form of idol worship, that of self-glorification above God.
