The melodic bridge is insanely good, it takes the whole songs to a new level. I think the best metal has to offer comes from joining heaviness and melody. Rammstein does it, SOAD does it, Black Sabbath does it, Metallica does it, Iron Maiden does it and so does Gojira. Amazing song

That opening verse and 1st go of the chorus kills me ever time. “the cure is somewhere in the silence but I’m crushed by the noise inside”. That line articulates so well the feeling of being HAUNTED by dark thoughts brought on by depression. Followed by the plea for help: “don’t lock the door on me”. So emotional. Joe & the band did a fantastic job with this record.

Just saw these guys live yesterday in Seattle at wamu. Absolutely insane performers and they sound exactly the same live. I was right at the front center and Joe Duplantier made eye contact and held it for a few seconds during this song. Absolute highlight even though the crowd of 6,000+ people behind me were actively trying to kill me.

This song helped me get through a total breakdown after a friend committed suicide. It helped save my life. Thank you, Gojira! P.S. After his death, I found myself in an inpatient behavioral health unit when my suicidal ideations got out of control. During group therapy, we got to play a favorite song or two for the other patients when our music therapist would come. I chose this one. Almost everyone loved it and hopefully I converted a few into Gojira fans \m/

I have to say that Gojira is a heavy cure for a soul. I got into them by an accident at the time when I was in a very bad mood. I was on the edge of a mental breakdown cause of my grandad. He was having dementia and I had to take care of him. It was all going worse and worse, he didn't recognize me, was completely delusional and acted like he was chased by someone. We were not in a good relationships through life and I kinda hated him, still I had no choice but to look over him to help my family. And just at the moment I thought I'm going to lose sanity, he died and I felt so good, cause I was free. But in the same time I was feeling guilty because of that. At that same time I've heard this track and found something in it. At first I didn't understand what was that feeling, but it helped me so much.... Than I got into work. I found myself some sort of relief by diving deep into my job, I was almost living on it, worked from early morning till midnight sometimes for a few weeks without a single day off. Than I got sick with corona. It was hard. It was disaster. I got into hospital and was locked there for a month or two (I cant even remember). I haven't seen my family, friends. Actually, I haven't seen anything except four walls and elevator. The hospital was so full of sick people, so I only had place in elevator room where was no light and nobody came here except my doctor once a day. I felt like I'm in prison. Gojira helped me out there like nothing else. I was listening to Stranded, Silvera, Flying Wales and a bunch of other songs. At some point I had hallucinations from fever and I've heard that exact song. Not gonna lie, I thought I was dying. And it was true at some point. If you ever thought what a dying man hear or see - now you know. But I survived. My body managed to overcome covid and I was coming home. I was kinda happy, not knowing that next three months are going to be painful hell. I was recovering for three months straight, but never came back to normal. First month I was dealing with muscle pain in whole my body. I couldn't eat more than one spoon of soup. I couldn't sleep. I barely could walk. In that same period I was listening to Only Pain on repeat for hours. Two months passed, I get a bit better, but still got deadly tired from walking 15 mins in the park near my house. On a third month I started making some sport exercises just to get back some of my previous strength. Month later I got back to work. I was so tired every single day, that I had to ask my boss for two additional days off every single week. Than in October my boss died from covid. A man of purest heart, the most hard working and good person I've ever known. I was at his funeral and I didn't even had energy to cry. I got back home and was sitting here for a week or something, only listening to Magma album and sleeping. I don't remember if I had any food at that time or not, but someday I woke up starving and for the first time in many days I left my house to get something to eat. I lived through this moment and I changed. I got much harder. I felt like something died in me and it's never going to live again. Next month my grandma and aunt got covid. They both were in the hospital and grandma was in agony. She killed herself by turning off the oxygen and died in a few hours. My mother and I had to bury her while aunt had to stay in hospital. She had seen the grave only in February, when she got better and left the hospital. And in that same month a war started in my country. I had no choice but to take a bag of clothes and run. Few months passed and my uncle who decided to stay instead of running died from a heart attack during a massive missile attack on city. In just a few years my life came from normal to straight hell. And I don't think I would have strength to survive that without Gojira. I finally got what was that feeling. An aggressive sorrow. The feeling of dead meat being cut from a rotting wound on your body. Pain, that makes you feel better not in masochistic way. The whole album Magma is a heavy cure. Cure, that also does damage. But it's healing you. It's healing me. Thank you for your music
