I know right? I wish they didn't put them through so much ridiculous drama, especially all that BS with WVDW and the fake cancer storyline. Lily and Rufus deserved better, and I would have rather seen them end up together and happy in the end rather than Dan and Serena. I believe they could have found a way around the obstacles, that were mostly made up of their different upbringings and opinions regarding money.

Heard rumours that they broke them up so that they could continue the “Serena and Dan” storyline without it being “incestuous”, but in my opinion Lily and Rufus should’ve stayed happily married, Serena should’ve ended up alone (find independence), and Dan should be with Blair (or have time to get over her).

The issue of Taylor Momsen playing Jenny Humphrey is that Taylor wasn't being devoted to the Jenny character as she was being Taylor on the show. By not separating herself from the character she plays, it limited what the writers could do for her character. Because as an actor, you have to efface yourself for the character you play to show. The producers were very supportive of Taylor influencing how the Jenny character looks and acts, to the point we were left wondering if we're watching Jenny Humphrey or Taylor Momsen. Now that Gossip has been off for 7.5 years, we can say Taylor Momsen is not good at multitasking. What she could've done was still be herself outside of the show and enjoy her music career while playing the real Jenny Humphrey character in Gossip Girl. But we don't know what she was going through and how exhausting it was for her to work in showbiz juggling schedules, while trying to build a music career and express her individuality, so it's easier to say what she should've done.

I think I also read somewhere that she's was trying to get fired because she was so done with TV, she hated it. She wanted nothing more then to play her music. I was actually listening to Taylors music before I watched the show. I used to get confused when people used to call her Little Jenny in the comments, then I did some research. When I finally watched the show I couldn't believe it was her in the first season!

She was pushed into the industry at a young age by her parents. She started GG when she was 12. She was locked into a contract when she was a child and the last thing she wanted to do was be on the show. It’s good that the writers were able to write her out so she could move on.

Taylor Momsen was a child actress who was exploited by her stage mom. I'm pretty sure that the song "Make me Wanna Die" is about her mom. That's why she behaved so badly. Like many child stars, she didn't have parents who parented her. That's why so many of them go down a bad path. No parents, no one to love them, treat them right from wrong, abuse and exploitation in Hollywood, the effect of fame on the psyche, and bad influences and temptations all around. I think all child stars deserve compassion and help.

It is hard for us -gg fans- to admit that clearly even when on screen this actors were so good and they had good chemistry, it looks like in real life there's a lot we are missing out. @@allie7574 the thing is, they probably more than likely all got on, but once the show finished and they all had other projects, it's hard to stay in contact all the time. I heard in an interview that Ed said they would catch up if they're at the same events etc.

From the outside looking in, the only person (from the young cast) that even still has appreciation for the show/fans is Ed Westwick. Everyone else seems embarrassed by it and makes me sad as a die-hard fan of the series.....10 years later.

I don't think they're embarrassed by it, I think they're exhausted by it. GG took up 6 years of their lives (their choice) and they lived it. So when it's mentioned all the time in interviews etc I think they feel like they haven't escaped it. I'm sure in time they'll show more appreciation for it ☺️

I am pretty sure that Ed and Leighton were together in the 4th season but I don’t know when it ended. Because I remember a photo of them in a cafe and they went to a Prince concert after that. And we were hearing things about them being so close from the fans who visit the set.
