The Liverpool system albeit effective in attack does not really help him tbh.

Lot more to defending than just one on one though. It's also about positioning, concentration, aerial ability, marking, defensive awareness in terms of tracking runs and knowing when to commit or drop off. If it was just about one on one defending Aaron Wan Bissaka would've be one of the best defenders in the league but people realised pretty quickly he severely lacked in other areas. Same seems to be the case with Trent. I hope and am sure he will improve but its not a case of him being as bad as "people say." He has just been that bad recently.
