Lee when Rpi-imager fails the only tool to use is Gparted.... If you open the drive in gparted and its blank with no partition click the heading above the green tick >>> Device >> Create Partition Table ... Then create a new partition as normal... Run a check drive on it and if good go back to rpi-imager p.s you con also use gnome disk utility to check the dives integrity..

I'm curious about the comparison between Kingston and Samsung, but both with a capacity of 128GB. Even on the Kingston manufacturer's website, the 64GB Canvas appears as a slower writing compared to the 128-512. When buying a Samsung, it is also worth paying attention to whether it is a 2023 model that has been improved speed to the previous ones but looks identical graphically.

That's impressively fast. I'm already surprised that I can run my Pi 5 comfortably as a light-use linux desktop with a Sandisk Ultra USB stick plugged into the USB3 port, but it would be even more impressive if I can do the same with a micro-sd card.

I have exactly the same error with my Raspberry Pi 5 and two Kingston CANVAS Go! Plus 64GB microSD cards. The error appears during initial OS boot regardless of how many times the cards are loaded via Raspberry Pi Imager or Rufus. I switched to using these two cards with my Orange Pi 5 Plus and they work great with no issues whatsoever, so these cards do not appear to be worn out or defective. I tried several other Samsung & Sandisk 16/32GB microSD cards with the Raspberry Pi 5 and they are all good. It looks like there's a strange compatibility issue between the Raspberry Pi 5 and the Kingston CANVAS Go! Plus microSD card...

I still prefer using Samsung USB bar drives. I had to update the eeprom on the pi5 to boot USB in preference to microsd

I have some utilities that I came across recently that revived a number of cards that I thought were dead. Get in touch if you are going to throw the card away and I'll see if I can revive it for continued use.

That's Interesting, it looks like the Samsung 128GB PRO Plus is the only one of these cards which actually meets the A2 spec (4000 IOPS read, 2000 IOPS write). It's a shame that it's over 4x the price of the 64GB A1 cards. It's great to see that the Pi 5 is able to take advantage of this level of performance though. My Pi 5 is finally arriving tomorrow, and I've been testing my own cards in preparation.

Just tested 512GB Sandisk extreme plus. 10,A2,UHS-3,V30. Got 67MB sew write, but iops were 1170 for write, 3061 for read. Below the A2 spec :(

Hi there, I am using same Samsung Pro Plus sd card. But performance in vs code is slugish. I disabled hardware acceleration and all that. I want to use my pi for web coding and as media center for my tv but I want faster performance in vs code. Should I get the nvme m2 ssd drive instead?

Isn't better to use "SAMSUNG Fit Plus USB-stick 128 GB" with 300 mbs speed? I hesitate to get this for my Raspberry Pi 5 to run Home Assistant on it instead of an SSD. It's compact en enough speed I think. What do you advise?

I’ve got a new Kingston Canvas Go! Plus 256gb sd card in the Pi5. Best speed test is: Seq Write 66737 KB/sec Ran Write 5853 IOPS Ran Read 5979 IOPS As an aside why does Chromium and Firefox browser not allow me to pick 4K quality on UKposts? Thorium browser does but pi5 not able to keep up.

I bought two here in Indonesia, online and unfortunately turned out to be fakes. Price was too good, should have known… Packaging I could see from yours was very similar and very good, no spelling, grammar mistakes, but text on the actual card was not the same. Sure enough diagnostic test showed - Sequential: 9493 / Write 424 Fail / Read 444 Fail.

Try removing and reinserting the pcie cable. I have had errors when testing. It sorted things for me

I am a little bit lost: what is the point of testing SD cards? If someone wants RPi being fast, he uses SSD. If someone does not care... he does not care or his case is ok with SD card. Ony of my Pis is used as a streamer, always ON, with DAC as a hat, and I don't mind SD card there. Like: ANY SD card there. But then, the other one works as samba server and Pihole, so yes, SSD is needed and there I use SSD.

Why cuz some applications, conditions or usage will require an sdcard so many want the fastest sdcard even if it's $8 more. There's a huge difference in sdcards and speed
