*One of the greatest underdog stories.* A Guardians game that everyone thought would end up like Marvel’s Avengers, but didn’t.

This is probably one of the best examples of “don’t judge a book by its cover”. I’m been really excited for this game since it was announced, and I’m so glad people are enjoying it.

It's a small detail but I absolutely love how as the game goes on the team starts traversing the environment without Starlord having to direct them to. By the final area of the game Groot's making bridges, rocket's crawling through holes and gamora is slicing through stuff without Star Lord having to tell them because they've learned and become a better team over the course of the story. I'm not sure why that stuck with me but I really appreciated that.

"You even fight Fin Fang Foom. I havent fought him since 2006! What a rush!" I thought Drax suggesting capturing Fin Fang Foom was just going to be a fun reference at the beginning of the game, I was so excited when the story actually paid that off and sent us to fight him.

I’m unbelievably happy this game was good.

My favorite part of the costumes is that most of them are given an in-universe explanation for why the characters wear them, such as Drax’s original costume being a “funeral garb” of Rocket’s business outfit being….a business outfit. It’s little touches like that that make all the difference

THIS is what Square Enix missed. They came back with a vengeance. Gud game, second best purchase I've made this year.

See Guardians actually was a easter egg hunt for me. The references, the Nova Files etc were what I have been waiting for since I was a kid reading Marvel Cosmic stuff. This game was awesome, it had the family dynamic, the characters were more comic accurate and loved the Element Guns which I hated they didn't have in the movies and the story had a good arc for all characters and actually touched on issues of facing death and moving on which I think is always a relevant theme.

Honestly, this game is just so much fun and has so much heart. I love how each of the Guardians had their own arc to get through and their banter was most of the time wicked funny and could be kinda emotional at times. It's like it mixes some of my favorite stuff from the movies and the comics. Man, it's nice to have a good Superhero game that isn't Spider-Man for once.

as someone who read the early guardians comics, before they got popular due to the MCU, it made me smile so much to see so many little things from the comics: cosmo, mentions of richard rider, the blue guardians uniforms, and friggin' jack flag! i love jack flag! this game really felt like a labor of love from people who know these characters and their history.

Nominated in three categories for Game Awards as well. This deserves more recognition, I feel people are sleeping on this just because it's published by Square Enix who published the soulless Avengers game before it.

7:30 ngl, that Ninja Turtles game idea sounds pretty lit. Multiple Turtles games had 4 Turtles at once, but I want it to be like this new Guardians game where you can send commands and upgrade them individually.

I love how Guardians of the Galaxy has gone from that once series that no one knows about to the franchise that companies use to try weird shit and accidentally peak

I was really dumbfounded by the quality of this game. Seriously amazing.

What I liked most about this game was the well-thought-out comments by Groot at various junctures of the game.

You basically forgot that in some missions they are blasting Peter's mix tape songs which have stuff like queens and yes even "never going to give you up" and it can play if you die, sit through the re-do mechanic were you get a bonus boost for battle and then it plays a random song on his mix tape. Nothing gets you more pumped but to listen to a bunch of good 70-80's music.

I particularly like the costumes coming with comic debut notes to let people know who made them and when. Maybe I just want to read the comic with Gamora in that green supervillain-looking outfit.

Gamora genuinely laughing and then making a parking joke after their ship crash landed is so heartwarming to me

Finally, someone who knows their stuff is talking about this game! Super glad to see all the positive attention this game is getting, I hope it gets a sequel.

I've seen many reviews saying they finished this game in 10 hours. It took me twice that at least. I don't see how it is possible to play through in only 10, unless you are never stopping to listen to the dialogue outside of combat. Because there is that much extra dialogue, and most of it is so amusing.

God, it's so good to see a superhero game that actually has color and exotic locations instead of having “new York stand-in” and “canyon” maps. This video really got me excited for this game i didn't care about at first. Also, you predicted Web-Man getting in Marvel's Avengers, which i found hilarious.

I know you made fun of the recent trend of giving comic book characters kids for character development but truth be told out of all of them, I think Venom and Dylan had it the best so far because given Eddie’s history pre symbiote I can find that story to be believable and natural for him. Damian and Batman is a neat idea in concept but the execution didn’t really stick all that well (and that’s not even going into Damien’s hit or miss characterization) I only ever faintly heard the idea of Deadpool having a daughter and I just didn’t bat an eye, I couldn’t care less (in fact I’m just not into the idea of DP having a kid in general) And legit I had no idea Moon Knight even had a kid until this video happened.

Great, now I’m considering buy this game after hearing so many positive things about it.

I was very hesitant on this game at first but after seeing this review I can tell that actual love was put into it. I’m actually going to pick it up now.

Funny enough unlike everyone else I wasn’t really expecting guardians to be like avengers I was more curious in how a guardians game could be made since it’s never been done before outside of the telltale game

I am completely turned around on the blue and white Star-Lord outfit. It's horrible in the comics but this game's models makes it look SO sharp and fresh.

When I heard about this game, I thought most of the character designs looked stupid, particularly with Star-Lord and Rocket. After playing this game though, for some reason I actually prefer these looks over the MCU and comics. It’s like these looks to me are now synonymous with their characters and it’s weird to think of them looking different

you can just FEEL the soul behind this game, compelling me to buy it twice, beat it 6 times, get the art book, and finally get around to read marvel cosmic to know all these characters more. a work of art

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I bought the game just because it was better than expected, and even knowing that I was honestly blown away by just how good it was. You can really tell the people behind this project were passionate about the IP.

Chances are if Avengers wasn’t online focused we could’ve gotten a more fulfilling and extended single player experience. I. E. Less repetitive enemy types, more maps, ludicrous gear system, less boring bosses, Unlockable skins you could actually find in game or earn, and actual objectives/Puzzles that require teamwork and not just endless brute force. It really does suck because each avenger plays in a unique way, and had it gone the route of Guardians, then maybe it wouldn’t have been such a flop at launch. Guardians is definitely a game I’ll try to get my hands on, even if I have already watched the story playthroughs, I want to experience the story and characters with my own decisions. Plus I could actually listen to the Licensed music the writers put in, since most content creators turned that off for the sake of copyright.

I loved this game. I really hope it sells well so the industry can start getting away from live service crap.

I only got through 1:30 minute intro and I already AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID SO FAR! I've been saying this from the jump, Avengers should have been a story narrative driven action adventure game where decisions made impacted the story, and had the story centered around one main member but with the ability to switch off to each other member in game during combat. Kinda like how in Batman Arkham Knight you were able to switch between Batman, Nightwing, Robin and Catwoman in the co-op battles. Had they centered the game around Cap, but had certain missions and chapters be about other characters and let you play through them then this game would have been successful!

I played this game on Gamepass. I beat it. I went back and got all achievements before it was taken off the service. I watch every review and video about it and get happy and emotional about the characters all over again. I'm going to buy it when I can afford it (games are expensive in my country) and play it again. I didn't read every file, I was kinda racing against time. I love this game. It totally deserves a sequel that Square Enix would never let it have.

The best part of the costumes is that they are fully functional in cut scenes. StarLord with long hair, his hair actually functions. I was impressed with the detail for an alternate costume.

I’ll admit I was *very* skeptical after the whole Avengers mess, but I decided to give it a go after I saw it was actually getting good reviews and I’m glad I did.

The part when you talk about the constant banter and conversations between characters reminds me of Final Fantasy XV, characters mess with each other, they threw hints while fighting big or strong enemies, they comment about the quest at thand or sometimes they remember something that happened before, it felt like going in a roadtrip with your friends and it make the game and world felt alive, one of my favorite games in the ps4

About 15 hours in and im loving the game. It reminds me sooo much of Mass Effect and i think that it is clearly inspired by it. It plays ilke a more accessible version of ME with its fast style gameplay and simplified power upgrades and conversation system. And its great having to play with all 5 characters ability in a single fight whereas you are limited to 3 at a time in ME. And because of having a smaller squad, there is tighter knit dynamic within the group compared to ME where you have like 10-12 characters aboard the Normandy. If ME was like Star Trek, then Guardians of the Galaxy would be like Firefly.

I would love a Ninja Turtles game like this but with the ability to switch between characters.

i started Arkham Aslyum a bit ago now, and as someone who's not into comic books but does like to know the origin of various characters & whatnot, i love how each character bio says what issue they first appeared in. and i agree that spider-man should've done the same for its suits & characters.

This is honestly one of my favourite games ever seeing the guardians go from barely friend’s to all singing a son together is just really wholesome the game nailed there chemistry and dynamic the acting was also insanely good for a video game if we get a sequel I’ll I’d want differently is to play as the other guardians I would have actually bought dlc for this game

Yk this whole space trotting adventure while controlling a squad of aliens who make jokes and have serious heart felt moments reminds a lot of mass effect.

Every time Drax mentioned Fin Fang Foom I got a little chuckle because it was nice to see reference to a character I love but figured would always be ignored by the mainstream… and then the Guardians decide to go Kakarantha and I lit up as it set in… Holy shit, I’m going to kill Fin Fang Foom

I've only seen a walkthrough for it but I really want this game, it doesn't try to be like the MCU, and it feels like a mix of Mass Effect and Ratchet & Clank.

So happy with how it turned out. Hopefully they go forward with this new direction

Theres 3 games ive really enjoyed this year. Guardians of the Galaxy is one of them. I was hesitant to get it but ultimately decided Fuck it if i didnt like it id give it to my brother as a xmas gift. But man after the first chapter i was hooked. Amazing game

One thing almost nobody is talking about is that this Guardians of the Galaxy is heavily inspired from Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy.

Recently finished the game. Couldn't believe how good the game was, I would've never expected this. The story, the dialogues, the gameplay, the optimisation and graphics, the facial expressions and acting, the co-op between the characters, the comic timings, i could go on and on. This game ticks all the boxes imo. Such a great game

I was so mixed on this game at first. The E3 reveal was way too long and the game looked generic as hell. I just wrote this game off, believing it would end up like the Avengers. I decided to watch some gameplay, saw how the characters interacted and some story beats and I was sold on it.

The guardians of the galaxy game was a masterpiece i enjoyed it very much , i hope they keep doing such games like this .

Ever since 2014 I’ve always wanted to play a guardians game, and this game definitely feels like I’d imagine it being, certainly can’t wait to play it whenever I can.

It was so good and the dialogue choices were honestly a great and fun decision and yeah I’ve never seen any amount of NPC’s talking this much to each other and the fact there’s gonna be no dlc is just real nice

Glad this game turned out so good. I might get the game on PS4. Other than that, I'd love to see Square Enix's next Marvel game to be done in Japan. Imagine a Marvel and Dragon Quest crossover with the likes of Captain America, Hulk, Captain Marvel, Storm, Psylocke, Rogue, and many more in Toriyama's style.

I loved it, simple but awesome

The ending was perfect though. Strut like the heroes you are. Indigestion. 2000s movie style ending where everything is tied up. The only game where you want to fuck up everything because it's hilarious. Plus the "bad" speech about going hard on the paint.

I wish this could’ve been a coop game, not too fond of split screen, I but miss playing games where you can do story mode with a friend. Last ones I played were Dead Space 3 & Resident Evil 6.

When I first saw the trailer for this game I immediatly wrote it off, I'm glad I ended up buying it because it's really good, I loved the dialogues and banter. I prefer this version of the guardians compared to the mcu one

I have this weird thing where if I watch or listen to a group of people for a little bit I almost start to believe that I'm actually jusf hanging out with friends and I like need the sound of those people to like be comfortable? and that happened with this game and it was the most bizarre thing ever that i genuinely missed these characters and felt lonely without hearing their voices.
