I just came from the Paramount+ trailer. I never played Halo, but this trailer did gave me a glimpse of the deeper themes of Halo or any war related game. It goes into the psyche of a warfighter, something I didn't saw on the 2022 trailer, which is just glossy commercial pap, looks like a 2020s comic book. This trailer did look like an actual military recruitment commercial, it has weight to it, like Halo is based on an actual conflict.

Gotta love the little attention to detail at the end. The soldier we have been following so far on his story has a cracked, scarred, dirty, splintered, burnt helmet (the armor is too) symbolizing he is a veteran of a hundred battles, then we shift to who is likely a new recruit and see his polish, intact helmet and now we know he is in for hell.

Literally all the new Halo TV show had to do was this. But I'm hearing real bad things. At least we still have this.

The concept of ODST is like guaranteed to create PTSD. Think paratroopers but somehow even more jarring and violent.

one thing i lived about halo was that even though it is set hundreds of years in the future, the unsc and mankind still use ballistic weapons. They didn’t go all sci-fi and gave humans crazy futuristic laser weapons or some super plasma ion infusion cryo ultra fission rifles. No, ballistics are better than any of that alien tech, nothing can really survive a high velocity penetrative hot metal needle coming straight for you at way past the speed of sound, and not just one round a whole clip of automatic firing rounds. If it doesn’t kill it, just make a bigger round, if it still doesn’t kill it use an explosive round. So really this advance race from the stars was defeated for an old piece of human tech that has been around for a millennia by this point. They may be old but they are the best killing machine ever created

Remember when they made stuff that had actual weight and impact, could make you feel things, and inspired you? this was an Ad, a commercial, and its was more impactful than some full length TV shows that have been put out lately.

I love how they got real marines and military service members too play in these short films it really helps in giving that feeling that these are real soldiers who are fighting a war instead of video game characters who have no weight too them

I think an ODST series along the lines of Band of Brothers would be awesome. Then you could show alot of the lore, training, the regular marines, and even have a random spartan or 2. But still keep the focus on the fireteam of ODST.

I remember running home from the bus on a rainy cold ass day to get home and see that gamestop bag on the kitchen table. Putting the disc in and all my boys were already online we played firefight til the sun came up the next day and went to school... what I would give to have those simple enjoyments again.
