If I'm not mistaken, these cutscenes were made by the same studio who worked on the Halo 2 Anniversary cinematics so no wonder they're animated really well

Totally agree with your take on the elites and how they changed. They seem to have lost the agile and sleek look to them. The giant armor and huge, almost inflated looking body proportions made them seem barbaric and brutish. While the removal of their black under suits revealing their reptile like skin really makes them seem too animal and kind of takes away from their over all regal or noble look and feel. They were originally based off of the Samurai, with their swords, huge head pieces, and general stoic and proud nature. The Elites basically being alien Samurai that you'd fight was, I imagine for a lot of people, a large part of what made them so unique and interesting to not only fight, but just look at. I feel like those similarities between Elites and Samurai was kind of lost with 343, I hope they recapture that feeling in Infinite, to some degree.

In Halo 4 and 5 the spartan you design and play in Multiplayer trains onboard Infinity, meaning that your Spartan is actually Canon, as far as I remember a few years back.

Just so you know, there are two fire teams, Crimson (mentioned a few times this video) and majestic. You play spartan ops as fire team crimson, this cinematic is focused on the overarching story and fire team majestic. There are also other Spartan fire teams on infinity but I think only these two are mentioned.

Spartan Ops was so underrated, it was so good in my opinion. It kind of reminded me of reach because you could wear whatever armor you want.

Just a tip, when Lasky/ Palmer mentions Fireteam Crimson, YOU are fireteam Crimson in Spartan Ops.

343i design with the Elites was so unpopular they had to make new lore for them. So the Elites we see here are a different species of Elite.

I loved Spartan Ops a lot. The cutscenes, being with new Spartans, learning new spartan lore and Palmer being badass and better looking than in the campaign.

So I think it was a retcon, but the reason the elites look different is because these are a different sub-species of the elites from the other games

You should also check out the fall of reach movie. It shows more background of chief and some others you’ll meet in halo 5. Definitely recommend it otherwise you’ll be really confused. The paramount+ tv show from what I’ve heard will be non-canon so they could do pretty much anything. There were some “leaked” screenshots (not 100% certain if they’re legit) from the show and it looks pretty cool. Although one of the screenshots had one of the prophets in it and from the people that did see the screenshots a lot of them are saying they look worse than the video game. We won’t know until for sure they release a trailer.

You can watch all the Spartan Ops episodes through Halo MCC without having to watch on UKposts and deal with muted audio.

Honestly, there are a lot of people in the Halo community who don't like Spartan IV's. They are considered weaker than their counterparts plus don't really have the discipline of real Spartans. Though I'll admit, this could just be the opinion of us older halo fans who stuck with the series since the beginning.

The elites featured in halo 4 and S ops are from a elite frontier world that is different from they're homeworld. They adapted to the environment. That's why they appear different.

343 elites became the new brutes during H4 and 5.

I don’t think the Elites are necessarily dumber, I think they just seem a bit more primal due to the change of art style.

I think it was a real shame this didn’t take off, the story wasn’t top tier but it had its moments. Dr. Halsey had a great role if not her best role in the whole series (game wise) and seeing captain lasky defend his ship with a shotgun was really cool and was a great pay off after foreword on to dawn!

You are absolutely right; Playing through does ruin the momentum of the story. There are some story details that’re brought up in the missions, but not many. The only one you’ve missed so far is from a mission before the cutscene where Hoya gets shot: Fireteam Majestic and Fireteam Crimson (the player’s team) are tasked with taking out separate fortified positions, and Crimson clears their hostiles first (which DeMarco whines about), leading Palmer to make Fireteam Crimson her go-to QRF and Majestic their back-up.

Every cinematic is every 5 missions. That's how long an episode is I also agree about the Halo 4, and 5 designs for the elites. I've alwasy compared them to being more like brutes wearing elites suit

Just FYI if you rewatch the halo 4 epilogue you can see Palmer training fireteam majestic while chiefs is walking to take off his armor being epic as usual Oh and chrimson is the fire-team you actually play as in H4 Spartan ops

I wouldn't say that the Elites evolved, more like devolved in Halo 4/5. Here's hoping Infinity will be much improved.

I love Halo and Ive not even played Spartan ops, I just watched the cutscenes. I played the first mission and other than the word nothing I can't think of a word to describe it

About the elites, they look more barbarian because this is actually not the original covenant, if I'm not wrong, these are pirates and kind of highly trained, fortified and technologically advance guerrilla, while the elites in the highest ranks of the covenant occupied by elites, are highly trained elites educated and grown from warrior and royal lineages of sangheili the native elite planet, these are more like mercenaries disciplined in war and putting up a fight but not as much in cultural and educated ways as for say elites under arbiter's (Thel'Vadam the one on halo 2,3) command

I've been with the Halo franchise since the Mac world demonstrations etc, right before Microsoft got hold of Bungie etc. I very clearly remember the first picture in a xbox/ pc magazine, of a pre Halo CE elite with a forerunner structure to the left, rolling hills and a kinda unfinished part of the halo ring in the background.. they werent splitlip/ jawed back then. You can say alot about H4/ H5 but they DO/ DID include alot more lore there were some very nice gold nuggets I hope 343 with Halo Infinite, dont dump. But expand and refine and also not end story archs only in expanded media. I still want to know in- game, what happened to Fireteam Majestic with Thorne, Crimson, Palmer too even she was way too sassy, toolish for the ex spartan 2 Osman which have massive grudge against Halsey. Seems Palmer have calmed down, shes grown and me. And Halsey while kidnaping children was so wrong, she cares and is the best bigbrain the humanity got. Baffles me why ONI couldnt make a deal with the parents undetcover of a different, more public military branch etc. We are gonna give your children the highest risk/ reward training there is and be the best protectors/ guards and image of humanity. Also the Janus key parts? As far as I know they rolled uo that story arch in a comic. I think there was a thing with that they brought the keyparts to the Ark?? Or something. Unlocked it but the monitor or whatnot didnt see humanity was ready for thecwealth of tech and knowledge after an event with a group of covvies? So the monitor closed it off. Halsey got upset...pissed off to say the least.
