Im yet to play anything better than Halo Reach. The gritty militaristic tone in the Halo Universe. I loved how Noble Team was only one spec of events that were happening simultaneously among others, It really sold me that this was a *real* losing war. It's beautifully tragic of a game.

For the first half of the game, the music is fast and has an action-movie feel to it. Then, after Jorge dies and the Covenant fleet arrives, the music gets sadder and sadder until the end with Ghosts and Glass.

Imagine that last phantom never arrives. Imagine 6 and Emile get on those Pelicans and get to the Autumn. Imagine the Chief, Six and Emile rampaging across Halo together. How different everything would have been.

Just realised that at 35:35 Kat says the radiation flare is 40 million roentgen. To put that into perspective, Chernobyl blast radiation at its peak was 15000 roentgen. A normal human when exposed to 400 roentgen for an instant dies within 30 days.

Now all we have with 343 is cardboard Locke, commander Sarah pooper, and gaggle of copy paste Spartans.

So much is conveyed in just his tone, his sadness at the loss of another human life, the thanks for B-312 and the rest of Noble teams sacrifice. Just perfect, one of the hardest parts of voice acting can be tone and the voice after nails it

A game without plot armor. Truly unique.

A thing I just picked up on is Carter doesn’t remove his helmet until talking to Colonel Holland. Only Jorge shows his face to the daughter to comfort her, while the rest of them remain in control. It emphasized how the Spartans are viewed more as weapons and Jorge’s kindness being a defining trait amongst the cast.

I love when Halsey threatens Kat and Carter backs her up. So subtle because Carter and Kat were super close since they were the last members of the original Noble Team.

35:24 maybe these details I recently noticed are common knowledge, but that cleansing beam immediately outside Olympic Tower after they zeroed Kat's signal was definitely used to just flush Noble Team out and into the closest fallout bunker, above which the Elite Field Marshall waited so he could specifically take out Kat. The Covenant knew just how incredibly smart she was, and because of that how valuable she was to Noble Team in slowing down everything the Covenant was trying to do. They were getting real tired of her. Out of every member of the team, she was truly the only one giving them hell by keeping Noble only 1 step behind them. That 1 needle rifle bullet was a sucker punch that was intended to not only be payback for destroying their jammers but to also convey a message to the rest of Noble Team, which was basically "stop trying to fuck with us" and made an example of her. The Field Marshall could have shot and killed _any_ other Noble member there. He consciously ignored Carter, Jun, and Emile, and when she came into view, he took the shot. On a side note, I wonder what Kat's reaction would have been like had she survived when they got to Halsey's lab when retrieving that fragment of Cortana. I like to think that she would have had an absolute field trip with the insane amount of incredible knowledge. Knowledge is basically crack in Kat's brain. I don't think many people understand how paramount she was for the survival of humanity. She had no idea herself, either. 42:18 "Thanks to Noble 2, the decrypting of its data is nearly complete". This bit should put into perspective just _how_ insanely smart Kat was. Having absolutely 0 knowledge of the mentioned ancient civilization, the Forerunners, that was advanced beyond our comprehension, she was managing to decrypt a vast amount of their information at an incredibly fast pace. Something that may have taken countless years for humanity to decrypt and understand, she accomplished in just under a single month, on her own.

I hate to be that, “cringe UKposts comment guy”, but playing this game when I was young taught me how sacrifice is necessary, and sometimes strong people have to go through things they’d rather not to protect those that can’t protect themselves.

It helps fill that lore that YOU are Noble 6 and in the previous games you played as a lone wolf with others sometimes helping you but not playing much of an important role. That line doesn’t feel like Carter is speaking to Noble 6, it feels like Carter is speaking to YOU. Also, while I played this game and most of the Halo games childhood and know the major plot points(The game takes place on reach and everyone dies), replaying this as an adult makes me realize what was actually going on and makes me further appreciate the writing of this game.

Sad to think most people who survived Reach (mostly PoA Crew) ended up dying on the battle of Installation 04.

31:20 is probably an emotional moment for Six. Considering how the Spartan 3s were orphans from planets destroyed by the covenant, Six was likely on a civilian transport just like these as a child wondering where his family is.

Honestly, the entire structure of these cutscenes is so professional. The pacing, the rhythm, the framing of the shots, and especially the character progression between each of the members of Noble. It's glorious. And as time has sadly shown us,... no longer a guarantee with Halo properties -_-

Now this was a proper story and game, the militaristic setting and feel was epic, the Spartans stood out of from the crowd, the story shifted quite nice and the covenant felt like a real threat, the story line was unpredictable over important characters death. One hell of a nostalgic ride cheers lad this was the giant time of Halo where it stood up to its name and fame

Crazy how something out of no where happens and they manage to instantly react and get to safety without fully thinking about what just left an impact

I love the part where Kat rattles off everything they need to complete the mission including Six being a pilot there and everyone just looks at him.

I love the opening cutscene for Exodus, after Jorge's death. The shot of the destroyed Covenant cruiser with Six limping away, Him staring at New Alexandria under attack realizing Jorge's death was in vain, and the shot of him clenching Jorge's dog tags gives me chills.

I played this with my cousin when I was 7 I was sad when Emile died and he was like No Emile doesn’t die

37:13 such an amazingly beautiful and sad moment that hits you... I'd do anything to be able to relive the first time I ever played this game in the good old days when life was better and was at peace with myself more than ever. Halo has been there for me since I can remember.

This game was made a masterpiece, and still is 10 years later.

I love in Lone Wolf how the Covenant have already conquered and glassed Reach, but they see Six at the base and go “That’s the bastard that let the Demon get away. Everyone stop what you’re doing and get to him right now and kill him!” Like they saw one Spartan left and sent the whole rest of what was there just for that.

In this game, we finally could see the real threat that The Covenant was.

I’ve played this game since it came out and only now do I see how the deaths of noble team affect carter. He seems sadder and slower after Jorge and so… defeated after kat dies, almost like he’s given up and just going through the motions. It starts to make sense how willing he was to sacrifice himself in the late game. Great character development.

Honestly the beauty of this game visual, atmosphere and storytelling wise, still lives up to this day

Crazy that Arbiter was in charge of Reach’s destruction. Hence, why he was frowned upon and made the Arbiter because the Pillar of Autumn escaped.

Kat’s death gets me every time. It’s completely unexpected not only by the other members of noble team, but by the player as well. She gets struck down mid word and is dead in an instant. Noble team returns fire but to no avail, and her boot catches on the door as it closes The first time I played reach I genuinely screamed when Kat died

What I love about this games story telling is the camera angles it has random shots from obscure angles and shots of the other noble team members rather than just fixated on us. It really shows you that you are not the center of this game but a small blip in the world of reach

Love the gritty atmosphere, love that no matter what everyone keeps fighting. From the Spartans to the soldiers and to the civilians (book wise). Kat and Emile are my all time favorite Spartans hands down ❤️

This game gives me chills. Not just one specific moment, it happens in like each cutscene. Reach really put into perspective how outmatched humanity was.

The Scarab part was always my favorite. Nothing but respect, dude suicided himself for his people and was one of the reasons halo 1 was possible.

I never fully appreciated Reach’s campaign until I got older, but man this inspiring tale is beautifully woven into the overall story of Halo. A true masterpiece.

I remember I actually cried a little at this ending. Seeing your Spartan being jumped. And you can’t take control and help. Always was bitter sweet. Knowing cortona can now get to chief, but this mend killed me.

Do we ever find out what happens to Jun? Could you imagine him making an appearance in halo infinite? I also saw a comment on another video about how cool it would be if infinite returns to reach for a mission and you walk past 6's helmet... how cool would that be just sitting on the floor with like some cool music and stuff.

17:23 I never noticed this before but when the marines try to clear the gap and the warthog slams into the side of the chasm, the helmet of the gunner is flung off towards the direction of the camera. It happens fast and it's easy to miss, but it's a small detail that I liked.

Looking back, you can clearly see how much Halsey hates the Spartan 3s for simply existing. The Spartan 3 program directly undermined her authority and sees Spartan 3s as legit nothing but products of the military with no original thoughts of their own. In contrast to how much solidarity she has with the Spartan 2s since she's been like their mother. How the Spartan 3s exposes her narcissistic attitude makes her all the more antipathetic towards them. It's good the S2s and S3 can get along well together though, unlike with a lot of ODSTs.

The Reach really had you feeling like there was an alien threat more than the other halo games imo. Like the elite design. They looked very alien compared to their halo 2 and 3 counter parts
