Exactly why I love this movie. The theme of betrayal and abandonment is just so on point. Crazy thing is, the theme has a little bit of truth. Some troops from Vietnam war received such treatment during that time.

He was still a terrorist that took 83 hostages and committed murder towards a SEAL team and stole chemical weapons and held a city hostage. Still a villain lol. But by far one of my all time favorite film villains! And the best performance of Harris’ career.

Although threatening to launch chemical weapons at San Francisco seems like the very definition of terrorism, I believe Hummel never intended to actually kill anyone. He could have caused a mass panic in the first place by calling the media and telling them what was going on but he kept it between him and the those he had issue with. As Hummel said, he bluffed, they called it. But you are the company you keep and clearly he made some bad choices there and came to regret it. He's a tragic villain in the classical sense

ошибка генерала Хаммела в том, что он неправильно угрожал. Ему надо было нацелить ракеты на пентагон и белый дом, а он угрожал выстрелить по мирным гражданам. Тем самым представив себя террористом.
