Hi Craig, Let's look at use cases where 8 GB ram variant will be useful, 1. Desktop Replacement - With 8 GB RAM you don't have to worry about opening multiple web pages at the same time 2. As the 8GB variant supports 64 bit OS, productivity apps will be much smoother 3. You might also want to look at RAM disk implementation. Essentially this dedicates a part of the RAM to permanently store (Constantly refreshed) an application or data, thereby making it have super-fast load time. If you already have a Raspberry Pi 2 GB or 4 GB model, you will not need the 8 GB variant unless your application specifically needs more memory or can only work on the 64 bit OS. There is no specific app that you can download to make use of 8 GB RAM. It just makes the current apps snappier and makes them handle more real time data, like multitasking. We hope this was helpful.
