If they had such a gift they would have performed the work as Bach intended. If they don't have the artistry to understand, at least they should have refrained out of respect and reverence.

sorim1967 I do not agree - I personally believe, JS Bach would have been proud, surprised and would have loved this adorable interpretation of his eternal masterpiece.....as well as both of the musicians!

You are not the only one who cries. It is played superbly, but I regret they repeat the 1st part only and stop at the "Schaue hier, Herz and Auge weinen bitterlich um Dir." Listen to the vocal version, too (Aafje Heynis is a good choice). She was a pure alto and that is most proper. I mayself have sung this but I'm not a professional.

A yearning for what has never been... just glimpsed in a dream of clouds.... and you hug yourself, without tears, clinging on to the hope of feeling his caress. This is what I feel when listening to Huser's " Erbarme dich" rendering.
