The producers of HIGNFY, and professional (and lazy) comedians like Frankie have no time or interest in nuance. They just want cheap laughs, any relationship to truth is only incidental. I do like Ian Hislop, he's not just going for laughs. (I used to like Frankie some years ago and used to think that he was great. But he's always been a stupid verbal shock-jock who pretends to be political while actually being a know-nothing f**kwit.)

Well, he usually wins in the later years, and the guests and host this time were so good he might not have been needed. There are editors who decided what gets broadcast. Franki Boyle is one of the funniest hosts I've seen, and Gyles Brandeth has an engaging style and much knowledge and Cariad Lloyd can also be really sharp. Hardly worth mentioning that of course Ian has a lot of content and right up on events, since he always is
