His issues stemmed from the example his father set while growing up. Tiger was not mentally prepped for good decision making and so he had the wrong people around him in his early 20s when nothing but temptation existed for him. And then I assume we'll see in part 2 that Tiger losing his dad made him want to learn more about military ops and that + his addiction to the gym ruined his body.

Now there are multiple arguments on both sides and there is nothing wrong with wanting a family and settling down. The "mistake" was that Tiger already had this taste for lust and he kept indulging after he was married. His father only fueled that as the poor example he was when Tiger was growing up. I'm not sure if Tiger's body would have been any different but without the scandal, he likely would have won a lot more from 10'-12'.
