Strange how so many of you evangelical types resist those actions that really have the potential to reduce the crying and pain of illnesses I cannot afford to treat, childcare I cannot afford to provide, the gunshot wounds I and so many others suffer every day.

@@jburnett8152 Vote for candidates who are not hypocritical about the sanctity of life and family values and have the guts to pass legislation that will reduce gun violence, will increase availability of affordable child care and medical care, will help people have jobs that pay enough to afford housing and food. Vote for candidates who understand that the reason for existence of any human institution is for the betterment of the lives of the humans who live under its influence, and not solely for the increased profit to stockholders. We humans create the causes of the crying and pain, and it is up to us to work to eliminate them, not give up and say, "It is hopeless here; I have to wait until I die for the happiness I so much need here and now." And it is very convenient for the profiteers to jump on the evangelical bandwagon and encourage you to be resigned to your earthly fate because presumably you will get your reward in this heaven you believe in. They get their reward now but you all have to wait. And, they all thump their bibles just like you, so they get double benefits, here and in the fantasy paradise. Wake up and start fighting for a liveable world here and now.

You do realize that the fantasy about "the Rapture" is a peculiar religious belief held mainly by mostly American evangelicals, and by almost no one else in the christian world, and by no one at all anywhere else. The whole idea is not found in any of historical christian writings, and came to be in the 1830s among American fundamentalists dealing with the difficult circumstances of life-and-death westward colonization. But it has had one very positive effect, it has swelled bank accounts of fire-and brimstone preachers.

I would like add to that if i may....Our fullest experience of God is where he glorifies himself through us...sounds selfish of him.....yet it is here where we experience the fullness of joy. Yes he loves us beyond measure,but the love that truly sets us free is not just receiving his love,but by us being truly satisfied in who he is..... Heaven is ultimately enjoying his presence forever as he will ours....In the meantime we display his glory the most by showing that satisfaction and love for him which then projects on to all those whom he wishes us to influence in this life.
