Supply pack players are an absolute treasure. No supply drop goes wasted with them, and if they have the nade launcher, you know their channeling their inner tf2 demo-man.

Well, nice to see the reasons for us Vet's being S tier here. Been playing Helldivers since 2017 myself, and that was mainly due to wanting to play Magicka, but saw it’s servers were getting shut down. However they did make another game with similar controls, which was HD1, and pretty much fell in love with it within a week. And, here we are now, with HD2. For any rookies that may see this, little word of advice f that was a loading screen tip on the first game, despite being paraphrased as I don’t remember exactly what it said: "Don’t stay in one place, the enemy is infinite and you are not." Basically, if you stand around fighting bugs/bots rather than doing the objective, not only will you run out of time, but you may also run out of ammo and/or revives as well. Helldivers is meant to be played with mobility in mind. Get in, do the objective, and get out. Everything else is optional. Avoid fighting the enemy whenever possible, as killing enemies is NOT an objective. Not even an optional one, unless if it is a retaliatory strike or extermination, only then is it an objective.

Stealth is way easier on the bot maps versus the bugs. The bugs react a lot quicker.

The Speed Runner. Doesn't fight with team. Usually avoids fights with bots and bugs. Tries to knock out objectives as fast as possible. Usually on the other side of the map.

As a sniper, if the Hulk, Bile Titan, charger or devastator suddenly looses its head and you see a trace from a railgun from a distance, you're welcome.

The only thing I’m learning from this video is to use the recoilless on the drop ships for robots

One thing worth adding to the Stealth players is that they can run around the map solo collecting rare and super rare samples for the team, along with some of the faster objectives like getting codes or geo surveys done. Can keep the main fighting force doing the big objectives while getting the job done twice as fast.

Ayo WDYM stealth is not an option on high difficulties? Im literally channeling all Snakes up my ass to crawl around bug nests and automaton facilities on Helldive Solo, it was the only option to clear the missions when matchmaking wasnt fixed, and now I dont wanna stop

As a veteran myself from many hours of service in Helldivers 1, I have to admit, I needed to rewire my brain for the sequel. Honest to god, I hated the idea the camera would be changed to over the shoulder. One of my strong suits was from the original game, I could clear maps on all directions, but this game made me pick up a different playstyle. Always watch your backs, people. But then again, quickly killing over 150 hours into the second game, I got to learn its tweaks yet again, and it's just a blessing when I hear people cheering for the win. Helping you fellow Helldivers is amazing, and that's why I keep playing.

Bug Nest Deepstriker: A variant of the Decoy Master, often seen in level 7-9 bug mission. They can single handedly destroy a 11-holes bug nest or a bug eggs concentration by using hit and run tactics. They aggro most bug away so the other in the team can work on the main objectives.

Regarding the last type -- boss vs. leader. Bosses order people around and think that's their job. Leaders lead by being someone others *want* to follow. They're competent, focused, supportive, have good ideas, and everyone knows if they could be like that guy, they would all do just great.

I was the sacrifice player earlier, we had no reinforcements left, and we were about 2 mins away from losing our stratagems. We had lost 2 reinforcements trying to complete our mission, so it was myself and one squad member, I was much closer to where our pickup would be, I ran to the location threw down resupply, turrets and supportive weapons for them before we lost contact, and I set my eyes on completing the mission that was across the map with nothing but moderated democracy and determination to guide me, knowing I would not see a return to Super Earth. My other squad member was able to call down one last reinforcement that came before all contact and stratagems were lost. With very little ammo to my name, I trekked across the dark sanded wasteland avoiding every patrol of terminids. Suddenly I saw the tower, surrounded by bugs of all kinds and a charger, I knew there was only one option- to sneak my way up to activate the terminal. While I was doing this my 2 brothers in arms were fighting for their lives, freedom, and democracy waiting for the ship. And fought like Helldivers they did while I fought my own more quiet, yet nonetheless intense battle. I crouched and crawled my way into the radio tower with bugs around every corner, a chargers, and too many other lesser, but no less deadly enemies to count. At one point a small terminid was in my path of cover, I had no choice but than to quickly and quietly melee it and hope that no other would notice it. At this point the ship had about landed at the pickup, but not without one more causality of my brothers, and so my final brother waited with baited breath to see if I could complete the mission. As I proceed closer to the terminal I crawled past the two bodies of my slaughter brothers, thanking them silently in my head for getting this mission as far as they did, and I last I hit the terminal and watch the percentage go up, but only as the time remaining before ticked down.... Would the mission be able to be completed before my remain brother had to evac and fail democracy? 17% done. 30 seconds. 38% done. 24 seconds. 59% done. 16 seconds. 97%done. 7 seconds. 100% Completed. 5 seconds left. BINGO, the mission was completed, and not a second too soon! My brother went into the ship, to return the news of the successful mission for moderated democracy and Super Earth! It was an honor, being left behind in sake of the mission and while my name my never be heard, and my action my never be known by any others except my squad, I had done what it right for Super Earth, Freedom, Liberty, and Moderated Democracy and nothing is more rewarding! -Crewmember of the SES Wings of Perseverance

As a guy who uses a sniper for a living in Helldivers 2 fighting in long range I also go into the battlefield with it facing my enemies head on

4:47 Was trying out a new difficulty that I'd never won before and some rando's joined, one guy killed friendlies 11 times, the other killed us 6 times. I didn't kick them because they were noobs and abusing cluster strikes against hulks, but my god was it infuriating just getting my tac-pack, samples, and grenade launcher back and then immediately dying to either them or another rocket devastator/raider

Superior version of the leader is the guide, somebody who just plots out directions and objectives and suggests routes to keep everyone on objective.

I'd say my playstyle is more lone wolf, with a side of stealth and decoy. The stealth being a necessity for doing objectives solo, and the decoy bit representing my willingness to kite problematic enemies away from my team once things get particularly hectic. I typically just pick an objective on the map at mission start and break into a sprint to complete it. If my teammates follow me? Cool. If they don't? Also cool. I've become confident enough in my play to blitz objectives pretty efficiently. Not to say I'm not a team player, I just think bunching up is inefficient right at the start of a mission before the intensity of enemy spawns ramps up. So I'll take advantage of that grace period to quickly knock off a couple objectives before linking back up with my team. Plus it's always a nice little ego boost to get a pat on the back for clearing a large bot base all by my wee self lol.

Can't forget to mention the Speedrunners, who run ahead and activate objectives without the rest of the team being there, to the point where they'll call an evac when the team is doing perfectly fine and they could still take out outposts or side objectives. They also probably keep their chat muted, so they don't see their teammate asking for help to open a double button door.

Proud min max d teir grinder here. I ain't trying to spend 30 mins in Helldiver difficulty to lose because you are trying to find all the common samples. We have a democracy to defend.

Lol, I really think that the Anti Material Sniper is a really good sleeper weapon, only beat out by the Railgun for the Armor Pierce and raw Kill power... And Im not usually a Sniper in other games, but I really click with the weapon... But yea that said, play Sniper / Back Pack Support. I have some really bad moments and miss my shots sometimes, but I really try and keep ppl stocked while taking out the trash mobs lol.. I really think im a B Teir Hero lol!! Its funny because I have some really awesome good dodging and save moments, but other times I just fail bad lol. Love your breakdown of Teammates man lol!!

Sniper only is something I love setting up, but I bring auto cannons turrets and EMS mortars. Something about setting up hellfire support from a distance, and watching that line of bugs break under sustained fire and breaking down the horde. Add in a minigun turret and that high ground emplacement has won so many fire fights on hazards 7+

I normally don't have to wait more than 10 seconds to find a game, but I do quick play so I'm often responding to an SOS beacon. I love dropping into a losing battle and trying to turn it around

What about Roamers? (are they the stealth type?) Doing additional objectives on their own, and almost never dies until it gets heated up, who can manage soloing scouting enemys without alerting reinforcments, and usually cutting down mission times while they are clearing outposts?

I remember my first mission, it was on a cold and rigid planet against the clankers. I dropped in and got ambushed immediately, barely made it out alive of the ambush. I then did the objective and extracted. Overall I had many different close to death experiences, and made me realise how the game is harsh, and amazing. The missiin after I joined my level 20~30 friends and they surprised me again, with their skill, and different sick stratagems. Like "hey wanna see fireworks?", he asked me. Then proceeded to blow up an outpost with a 500 kg. "Oh BTW i got a rocket.", proceeds to blow up my other friend. An amazing game.

What do you call a player who goes off on their own and completes all the side objectives and grabs all the samples and medals before joining up with the group to finish stuff. Is that worthy of a specific name?

My first deployment was on The Creek, I started a few days ago and being a freshly deployed cadet on that hell hole was terrifying, I met a few Admirals and Sargeants that whipped me into shape. Taught me what I know. They pulled me out and sent me to Oshaune to help with the Termanids. I'm a Sargeant myself now, haven't been back to the creek since.

I think I'm a healthy mix of a few player types. I'll be anti-air if I don't see anyone else geared up for it, and I'll also be a "leader" in some missions, but thats usually just because I mark things on the map so I know where to go next, other times I tell people to wait up because I got a mortar and if you push with a mortar you're as good as dead, not proud of how long that took me to learn lol. Also the sniper players can be really great, I've met a few and I've been blessed to have great experiences each time. I love fighting bots and watching them blow open the heads of the devastators like a B2 from the Clone Wars, satisfying, and very helpful. Good tier list, good game.

I am a Leader. i call generally for directions obj. and bigger enemies and just let my team go where they want like one player just moves to a factory and i say ye do that and the other do their job. most of the time i just call out the dangerous enemies/bot drops/bug breaches and after that i just let them do what they can . no strategems min maxing or etc. just having fun and having one leader who is just calling a generic direction is good because its a team game and we can help each other. in the middle of a fight it´s really getting messy sometimes. One player having a Plan is really nice. Having a briefing before the game is also really good before just storming in.

I would mention one more for D (if that falls under one you mentioned then my bad), the One Man Army. The guy who just leaves the team everytime and runs off to do his own thing. Which is dying most of the time. And when you reinforce him back he just runs off again and again, making you wonder why he even joins a team and just does not play solo.

What about the crasher, where his game continually crashes but still tries and rejoins.

The hero... if you are running from a bile titan, and you see a quasar shot out of nowhere directly on the face of the titan... you know there is a hero on the squad. Keep it up helldivers

The way you troll is baiting the low-level bug boys into a medium mission, then dropping them into a bot helldive, screaming, "WELCOME TO HELL BOYS!!!" then leaving. Am I evil? maybe, but I've only done this once, lol.

I'm the damn loot goblin. I'm breaking away from the team and killing 3 outposts and collecting 10 samples with an autocannon before we even start first main objective. Probably blowing up Broadcasts, Stalker lairs or Spore spewers with the autocannon while I'm at it.

The truth is, I'm the kind of player who always goes on the offensive solo. I can rush objectives and eliminate enemies quickly while my teammates do their own thing with other objectives or whatever. I enjoy using equipment that allows me to move quickly among the enemy while shooting and blowing up everything I see. It's pretty rare for me to die as long as I don't encounter titans, tanks, or cannons that force me to retreat, enter, destroy, and leave, it's that simple. Although I won't hesitate to help if I see a teammate in trouble along the way.

Role playing in this game creates so many laughs! I mean the game itself does too, but reacting that way to crazy stuff is just the best

I play as light armored close&middle-range sniper, and whenever there are samples left on other part of the map, I go there asap and take them. Mostly it's risky but I get my job done, I take as much as I can without dying, and thanks to my light armor I can quickly run away from heavy enemies and reach the extraction even if counting has started, and while running I do as much damage to a chasing me be enemies as possible, so I won't bring too much trouble to my teammates. I haven't heard people complayining abaut my strategy, but I'll try to not risk so much when team ask me to do so. so I can be assigned to Sacrifice type :D

the absolute hype i got seeing that helldivers 2 would come out whenever it was announced because helldivers is actually so nostalgic for me

I only fight the machines. I feel that their honestly easier when you get adapted to their tactics. It really depends on some missions with the automatons they can be extra difficult. For some reason. My main problem with the bugs is that they charge you. If you don't have good teamates they will quickly over run you in later difficulties. I think one thing from each front is that you make a trade. With the bugs they don't shoot you as much with the exception of bile throwers, but you get more difficult targets like bile titans, and chargers. With the automatons they shoot you but I feel that hulks, devastators, and tanks can be easier to manage.

As a senior air raider I will kaboom the everything but the goods

Hero is definitely top tier, it’s super clutch to have someone covering you when your trying to line up an important shot or just need a little space to stabilize. Not to mention if your on the run from a swarm and need some covering fire.

I just want to point out its possible to stealth only helldive difficulty. In fact its really nice to do since you avoid most firefights adn you don't have to deal with drops. A whole team of stealthy players who are also harmed for actual combat is very strong.

i feel that i very much am the hero player as i spend about 60% of my time focusing on getting my teammates out of danger. by far the most satisfying thing is throwing a shield out just in time to save a surrounded teamate then calling in hell to clear an escape rout for them

Being a mid level player I have been liking dropping with a crowd control build. All of the fastest firing full auto weapons for sweeping crowds out to give the guys taking out the big guys some room to work.

0:55 I’m a new player as of a few hours ago…and I’ve already joined an extreme game with two people and killed two bile titans as well as being the only one to extract alive. I may just be an outlier but I don’t really struggle with the missions as long as my team is also competent. I’m also really fast with the support call-ins already. 5:37 One of my bile titan kills was while it was actively throwing up on me, I grabbed my expendable anti tank and shot it in the mouth before I died, and its head exploded. The only way it could’ve been more awesome is if I was yelling “For democracy!” while I did it

You forgot the Main Objective Rusher who will do anything in their power to get to the objective and complete it while their team are doing the side objectives and fighting bots then gets back to the ship early spawns it in and wait for their team to finish doing whatever they are doing before getting off the planet

I like some times doing the sniper over watch while doing the bot missions, able to keep eyes on patrols and start one tapping the bots in the back. albeit I'm at the easier difficulties still.

I just started playing the other day and I instantly went to the creek, so today makes it the fourth day of me going to the creek nonstop, also making it the third day of me and my friends going to the creek.

I'm finding stealth essential at Helldive difficulty. Just like Helldivers 1, even with godly use of stratagems things spawn faster than you can kill them.

The commando™ always pinging where they're going, often able to solo a nest, never miss a sample, and despite the fact I'm wearing the scout armor I can never seem to catch up to them lol

I’m somewhat a combination of machine only, stealth, sometimes sniper, and I try and defend my teammates. I’m on harder difficulties sitting in the back picking off the enemies coming after my team. Usually one shotting the bigger guys. But when things go to hell believe me I’m sitting there alongside my group

D tier - people who fight endlessly on some random place instead of moving and focusing on objectives

What About the Anti-Heavy? that's my play style although other players that I've played with might see me as a Veteran as I have learned a few tricks to make the high end missions a little less stressful

One mission almost all the players left except for one other guy we were heading to the extraction zone when he was killed. I could have just ran in the ship but since I had just been revived I landed on a hill and started blowing up bugs in order to beat the clock and revive him in time to run in the ship since we were down to one revive. When the timer was finally up I sent him near the ship and rushed down to the ship. (We both made it out alive)

leader/sacrifice/hero, all of them blended together but can lean almost completely into only 2 of them sometimes

Ive played the first one and right know the sequel is the game i play the most at the moment. At higher difficulties, it can get a bit anoying, if one or all teammates are happy trigger fingers. I understand that the main thing in this game is to shoot bugs or boots, but you know sometimes it is alsow fun the extract with some super rare samples. If you shoot every thing that moves, on those higher difficulty levels, your reinforcements usually are a bit thinned out and we sure all know how hectic the extraction phase can be. I personally think spliting the party is a good thing. If you know what to do and what you maybe shouldnt. I even think the higher difficulty missions are in some way easier if done in a splitted party.

So which one would classify someone who does both bots and bugs? I go where the war needs me.

A type of player I’d add to D Tier is the solo player who joins public lobbies.They will run off by themselves to speed run objectives and will use team mates as tools such as throwing you’re reinforcement into the middle of a hoard to save their own skin.

Passing on knowledge from your successfull missions to trainees is an important part of the big picture mission and one of the key ingredients that keeps mamaged democracy ahead of our rivals

I am an anti air but i dont solely focus on the dropships if we are getting over run yes i will shoot at ones i know will probably block the machines to make it less stressful till the ship despawns but by that time we are far away or in a more defendable position. I use to be a grinder till level 15 as thats when i new i understood the controls and had good equipment for higher teir missions

would like to make a case for the grinders, I only recently picked up the game and these higher level players being there guiding the secondary objectives and basically spearheading the missions has helped get used to the game a lot. very useful to new players but maybe not the team as a whole

maybe im stupid, but i started out fighting the bots cause space vietnam memes and, stuff and basicly unlocked every difficulty on bots, to me a lot of time playing against them anoys me more than it scares me, on the other side when i went threw my first few bug mission ( at least the first 2-3) i was mainly craping my pants constantly trying to run while franticly trying to threw strategems and nades and stuff, needless to say the bugs scared me way more than the bots every did....yet everyone says the bots are so hard and scary but i dont feel that way...am i doing something wrong?

Trying to be a Leader Veteran keeping my squads focus on the objectives. Sometimes I ask people to stick together, sneak, push, drop back or keep moving. And I make sure that everyone is aware of the next supply drop and it's location. But that's basically it. There isn't too much room for micromanaging when fighting the bots on 7+

My personal playstyle can generally be broken down as such: Bugs = Crowd Control with lots of Eagles and an Auto Cannon. Automatons = Elite Killer with Eagle Rocket, Orbital Railgun, and either the recoiless rifle or antimaterial rifle. Flank, flank, flank

Don't know what category I fall into; - prioritise my own survival, as I can only help as long as I am alive - after that I prioritise anything that poses a threat to my teammates - will split off if team moves away from outpost/sub objectives that I deem doable solo, vary of causing unnecessary fights - will drop samples at extraction site if the opportunity arises - preferred engagement range: short to medium, Offensive Strategem -> unload mag

right after i could, i switched over to the automaton front as a level 2, now i only play malevelon creek and i don't struggle as much as i do when i play with bugs

I feel the sacrifice and the role player are very similar if not the same person most of the time

You forgot the kiter: the person that runs around the battlefield to keep the attention of the enemy on them while simultaneously collecting dropped sample containers and helping people out with smaller bugs at the fringes. If you have a good kiter, missions turn insanely easy since you end up with one big blob of enemies that's easy to attack. A good kiter can be a real lifesaver while simultaneously making sure you get lots of samples per run. However, kiting is hard, especially in HD2. So sometimes you see people that want to kite but horribly die because they're simply not good enough to kite. All kiters live and die by the stamina booster, it is hands down the best thing in the entire game. The kiter is similar to the hero, but practically never stops running.

So what if I'm a stealth, master decoy, leader? Like i let everyone know what's going on and to take advantage of it, pull agro on a large majority of hordes then drag them away and stealth dump them somewhere safe when the objective is done? Where does that lie on the tier list?

You forgot about thw Assist Gunner. That guy that purposely (or accidentally) runs the same backpack and weapon kit as you, and will actively sacrifice his ammo and reload for you so you can gain the advantage on the enemy.

From day one when i got the game i dive right to the creek it got to the point that the bots are easy i find bugs more harder for me when i play against the bot i have a squad that more organized but with bugs my whole squad is scatter and im confused and end up dying a lot.

I'm a leader type. I like to make sure the entire team (myself included) is operating at 100% and all within their gameplay comfort zones. If I have 4 basically identically inclined players (again, myself included), I'll have one with all the airstrikes, one with weapon spawns, one with backpack spawns, and one with defense spawns. I like to separate it out like this so that everyone knows their role and we don't have a squad of 4 people trying to do everything at once and step on each other's toes. Typically, I'll take the support option since I know that support troops are typically the least favorite of a group, but I am more willing to be flexible on my role than I expect anyone else on my team to be.

Automatons and Terminids are completely diferent, mastering each is an effort worthy of praise.

I see myself in a fine line between fast learning noob and wild supportive ninja. rocks the autocannon all the time, looks at the map the most direct the crew on possible way around the map, while being a sole scavenger by running back to collect samples from dead players on the other side of the map mostly alone and avoid conflicts from patrols as much as possible, while every one is doing the side missions, I would be grabbing the launch codes to just drop them in/near the collector to not cause back track, or be a wild card and take on stratagem jammer outposts as the first one to destroy the fabricator from behind, then escape escape or being in suppressive cover with the hairs of my skin burned until the others arrive to steamroll in to get our stratagems back. Hardly any actual talk but 7/10 times understand what to do

Btw unlike the bugs, the automaton can be melee stealth kill, easily you pick one that no one look at and melee bash it to death, none of his friends will notice

In defense of grinders, sometimes you just REALLY want a specific weapon, stratagem, destroyer module, etc

I do play as mostly the sacrifice guy because I tank patrols but when I first started I would die because I couldn’t aim. I also exclusively fight automatons (I tried terminids but I couldn’t find enough to shoot… on hard difficulty)

In Helldivers 2 im the guy that goes frickin Rambo with the Stalwart and reinforces the second someone dies, I like playing on Challenging, ( I’d play on harder diffs I just have to unlock them) What tier am I?

I consider myself as a heavy support player. I play round using either grenade launcher/sniper (which, the last one, i find quite usefull for heavy automatons if you can aim), supply backpack, a sentry gun or double eagle, either rockets and/or 500kg. Still grinding some samples to upgrade the ship and have that sweet sweet extra ammo on support weapons and extra deployment/use on eagle strikes. But one think i have in common with all my fellow helldivers: DEMOCRACY SHALL BE SPREAD LIKE WILDFIRE AMONG ALL THE GALAXY
