I had a personal experience with Remo Palmier. I being a bus driver in NYC around the late 1990's, spoke to a person who boarded my bus with a guitar case. I asked him what he played and he told me mostly jazz. He said he was taking lessons from REMO Palmier...i told him i was trying to learn and he gave me Remo phone number. I called him and ended up taking about 5 or six one hour lessons with him. He was a very pleasant person and he told me to buy a jazz fake book, which I did..he told me to pick a song out of it that I wanted to really play; I picked out "WALKIN'". when I came back for my next lesson, mister Palmier transcribed the song out for guitar, melody and chords and signed it, for me to practice and learn. I still have it in 2019.

There was a little bookstore near my house in Peekskill, NY called the Bruised Apple and I would go there often. Old books, vinyls and cds, each with a unique and odd history, just waiting to be found. The floor boards creaked, the smell of yellowed pages and aging wood would fill your nostrils. You demoed LPs on a shared system and cds on a portable cd player for hours looking for those gems to take home. The owner of the store had music like this on all the time and I often asked what he had on at that time. A quiet elderly man with a three musketeers style mustache and beard, always pleasantly toned and willing to help with new discoveries from years of experience. This takes me back to that store demoing my next buy. May the music and the stores in which it plays last forever.

My boyfriend just brought me homemade cappuccino to my bedside table and I can hear the tram through the open window. It will be a good day. The birds are shyly chirping again and the world slowly gets in order. All the noises seem to be friendly today. The washing machine is running next door, keeping it's rhythm to an unknown beat. One orchid flower bloomed on our window sill yesterday, others will follow soon. Mother earth wakes up from her nap telling nature to bloom again. Then suddenly, I stopped, crashed for like 4 days, just sleeping in and barely doing the things I want to do. The things that will bring me closer to the woman I want to be. I am listening to this beautiful album while I scream at myself in my journal. In life, everything is painful. Being stuck in your comfort zone is painful. Working towards your dreams is painful, but one pain is accompanied by shame, and the other is accompanied by pride. I am baffled by how many times I choose shame over pride.

In less than a week the holidays will be over, and I'll come back to school for the last 7 week of my teenager years. I'm already stressing out with the end of the year approaching, the exams gently creeping in the back of my head, and those damn p.e. lessons continuously making my anxiety worse. I tell myself it will soon be over. So until then I'm just looking at the blue sky from my window, taking care of my plants and studying other languages while listening to this friendly playlist. I hope I'm not missing anything by taking time for myself. Greetings from Belgium ;)

This album reminds me of my twilight stroll by myself in Haji Lane Singapore 2015. It was the first time I went abroad by solo traveling. I found a small vintage female boutique named Dulcet Fig that played this album while the rain was falling down and I should wait inside. There were three fat cattos. The ambient quietly reminded me to one of a district in my hometown in Indonesia. Life is a perpetual changing but I guess we will always attract similarity everywhere we go. And every places can be a home too. Just doing some stalking about that Dulcet Fig boutique, and it was permanently closed. Now I'm listening to this album at 2AM with a little strange nostalgic feeling.

I know Haji Lane well. It's part of the Kampong Glam conservation area - so you'll notice alcoholic drinks are not served in any of the cafes. I used to hang out in the bars and restaurants of Golden Mile which is a five minute walk down the road. I found this album in March 2020 whilst staying in Malvern, England. I liked to play it during bath time. FYI if you scroll down there is a wonderful Reno Palmer anecdote!
@philipthomas88182 роки тому

I work at a farm distillery in upstate New York. Between doing production and sales, during the afternoon/evening it can get pretty busy, especially during the fall and early winter season, but the mornings are almost always quiet with maybe a handful of customers. Can't tell you how many times I've queued this album up after opening and just sat behind the counter to enjoy the music and fresh cup of coffee. It's a great way to start the day.

I was cooking dinner today for the fam when all of a sudden I get a bout of anxiety, like I get this restlessness in my gut which sucks. So I go to UKposts to find something to listen to calm my nerves, and after some browsing I stumbled upon this. I turn this on and I end up dancing around the kitchen like a maniac while cooking broccoli. My anxiety practically disappears and I'm filled with this feeling like everything is going to be alright I just have to take it slow. I feel much much more better and i made a pretty good meal, so this'll be one thing to tell my therapist about. tl;dr I got anxiety and this album made me straight up vibe in the kitchen

I’m more of a metal and outlaw country guy but I love checking out new jams I’ve never heard of. Why this popped up in my feed I have no idea, but being in an adventurous TGIF mood I clicked it and sent it to my Bose speaker under my desk in an empty office before anyone comes to work. 10 min later the volume is as high as it can sonically go and the lights are out. Window is open to a snowy pre-dawn landscape, hot coffee in hand........so this is what chill is all about ?? Damn man, consider me a new jazz junkie.........
