There is no such thing as stop drive in Romania since many vehicles are old and people are poor. Heck, even my car a 18y/o Fiesta. Here if you car doesn't work properly you go to one guy that knows another guy and bribe him to get a new 1 year inspection for the car, very easy. Here is too much corruption for that stop driving thing. Ive been to the USA for 3 months and boy i can tell you you have a lot of weird laws 😂😂

Everywhere i go my bicicle turns heads, and it's 14 years old, it's biggest "thing" is the one people probably realize the least, wich is that instead of paint the whole thing has a custom red anodized finish that honestly does look great, it's a 2009 Demo 8 if you're curious, and as far as i'm aware it's the only one with such a colour on it

Same thing happened with the Mercedes brake booster recall. Since the cars were under a stop drive order, we would drive to customer’s houses to perform the inspections. If the car passed, the customer could continue to drive it. If it failed, Mercedes will offer to pay for a tow or a porter would carefully drive it back to the dealer

Damon of DDE (Daily Driven Exotics) had this fail on his CGT and he nearly crashed. Fortunately he was only going 35 mph so he was able to get it pulled over but he was scared. You can see it on his video last year or the year before when he had it.

A lot of recalls happen as cars get miles and defects are found. Doesnt surprise me that a car like this, where most of the units are kept in garages 360 days a year or more, they haven't found problems until this long.

The early 928's had a ball joint issue as well. Porsche initially installed aluminum ball joints, but a few of them fractured so they were all replaced with steel joints that solved the problem.

I had a vehicle under a stop drive order. It was a Diesel engine EGR that could leak and catch fire. You just had to make sure to keep track of coolent levels till part was available. And for a short time there where actually some insurance companies that would not cover KIA and Hyundai cars when theft rate was high. Until they fixed it. But that was only on NEW policyholder. Not currently covered vehicles. That's probably the case with the GT. Unless proof car was inspected.

You also explained why you go to an Indy. Porsche dealer: " Mr. DeMuro, we haven't seen you in a while. Of course we will install the suspension part. But we also have to replace the muffler bearings and blinker fluid, or you could die. And that is on you...". Just like any other dealer service department. As a side note, Ferrari has now started offering insurance. Purchase a car from an authorized dealer and Ferrari offer to l insure it.

I have a recall on my 2010 LaCrosse for the rear tow link, but it only applies to cars they were ever registered in the rust belt. My car was originally registered in MD, but it was really well maintained and I have owned it since 2019, and the recall was issued in 2020, and they didn't have the resolution to the recall until 2021. The recall states that the rear toe link could have been oversprayed with painted and they thicker painted areas are prone to chpping from road debris, they exposed the bare metal to be rusted and possibly cracked, which could lead to breakage. I have examined the rear toe links and all is well. Initally, my year model was part of the recall, but they later added it.

I would definitely still keep an eye on it. That same suspension joint failed on Damon from DDE's Carrera GT and it wasn't because of corrosion. The part that held the joint together just loosened pretty much slamming one side of his car to the ground and pulling him to one side. He said if it wasn't for the fact that he wasn't driving fast he definitely could have had a serious crash. His mechanic that he had at the time who serviced Carrera's at Porsche said it wasn't the first time he'd seen that part loosen on it's own.

DDE has a video were rear shock failed on his Carrera GT during a drive and detailed a common upgrade for this known issue. I believe the problem was thread shear, causing body to rest on tire. Some underside aero also made contact with road. UKpostsr creates much of his content in CA, but resides in Canada were salt could have played a role in the failure. Either way, be safe man.

A lot of CGT's were exported from the States to Europe a couple of years back as there was a big price discrepancy between US and European prices partly contributed to by the fall in the USD. Mark McCann did a video on it.

My 2022 Ford Bronco is currently under recall because the seat-belt buckle can slide down the seat-belt far enough so that it's a little difficult to reach for someone who has to sit with the seat scootched up. So they're making Ford spend literally millions of dollars recalling every Ford Bronco to install a small plastic clip on the seat-belt that prevents the buckle from sliding down too far. 🙄 I refuse to participate. If someone is too damn lazy to buckle their seat-belt because the buckle has slid a couple of inches too far down, that's just Darwin at work, IMHO. Recalls *CAN* be for stupid reasons, as can "stop drive" orders. The NHTSA is not God.
