It's amazing how much advantage he's getting (in this video) coming off a screen. Baiting is an amazing idea. I call it "magnetizing" a player, so defenders are attracted to him. Once you're a threat the defense gets warped/twisted/destroyed. Good video.
@bananakin94
@bananakin94 2 роки тому
He’s only 23 and playing like he’s already in his prime. If he isnt in his prime now and there is an extra gear that he can hit, its going to be a scary sight for teams across the league. And the craziest thing about it is that I do believe his game can improve. But i think whats even scarier is that i truly believe that he will be able to sustain this level of production for years to come. Even past his physical prime. His game relies so little on athleticism that it’s not hard to imagine him being a 35 year old veteran still doing crazy numbers as his already elite mechanics, IQ and feel of the game continue to sharpen. Luka to me is truly a one of a kind player. I dont think we’ve ever seen a player dominate with this level of poise and maturity so early on in their career. Usually young superstars have to rely on using their physical strength and explosiveness to make a name for themselves but Luka has essentially created a new blueprint for newcomers.

Changing the pace and force the defense to make a decision is key to basketball and i have to learn to use it better cause i relied many years on my speed cause i was the fastest here around in. This is also the key to play till your 40s if you have a decent shot. I only used it for the hesitation dribble like doncic to catch the wrong foot and to go around the helper. But almost never attacking the rim or seldom at picks.

I used to call him cat slick, because his timing was like a cat playing amounds dogs. I'm surprised nobody in these videos name what's probably Luka's main offensive asset: Footwork. Dude doesn't give any more steps than what's needed for any given move, has an economy of movement than more than compensates for his size and less innate athleticism when compared with other (on paper) much more athletic guys. He's incredible in his fundamentals and that, alongside with his obvious court vision and BBall IQ is where the rest of his offensive game is built upon. None of what's pointed in this video would be possible for him to do if he didn't have the footwork he has.

Something I don’t understand is that if you have to go against someone who doesn’t relax and is Always prepared and playing good defense, how do you prepare. Ik you said at time like 3:30 that you know where you are going and the defender doesn’t so you can use that to be a step ahead but if you aren’t as athletic or explosive, which is pretty much the point I think, shouldn’t the defender be able to catch up.

It’s pretty simple actually. If you leave him open for 3 he makes it so you have to get up close. Being close allows him to fake you out and makes other defenders have to help on defense. When they come w help someone’s wide open and Luka is a willing passer always looking for teammates. He’s a triple threat with the height to get shots off on almost anyone.

Luka is so dominant because of his skill set and experience playing grown men his whole life. His big body also makes him a huge threat from anywhere on the court

Luka is easily the most funnest player to watch in the NBA right now (2022). Can't wait for the new season to start.

He’s an amazing player. It makes me sad to think of what the Suns could’ve been if they had the foresight to draft him.

Luka has the same reading as cp3, luka is taller, bigger and stronger thats why he excels so much, You can say he is one of the top 3 of the best point guard in the league right now

Luka signed contract with one of 3 best teams in Europe.He was awarded with rising star,MVP of Spanish league (a league second only to the NBA),MVP of Europe League,MVP of the Final Four,MVP of the finals,,,,nickname-Wonderboy....and now these things that he is doing at the NBA,,,,he can't be outclassed!He is set to be one of the 5 best players ever in the game of basketball!Only if there are no major injuries.

Yup. It's angles, timing, and change of pace/direction. He forces you to commit one way and then counters the other...& he is money either way.

This is a good video, but I don't think Luka is an average NBA athlete. He is actually very quick, strong, and coordinated.
