That door panel keypad is one of my favourite features on our current Escape's. Glad they kept it. Unbelieveably convenient.

I had that key pad on my 2002 explorer. I think it should be standard on every brand. I love mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, exc and that feature is the single most convenient feature ever. My aunt and uncle boat all the time also and cant believe its not used by more companies. They dont have to worry about possibly dropping their keys in a lake.

Got the Titanium Hybrid in magnetic 2 weeks ago. Absolutely love it. Commute to work daily with two longish trips and still haven't filled the tank. Would really have loved the moon roof and heads up but, ah well. Next time.

@Doug I'm surprised you didn't spot Ford's little easter egg within the Adaptive Cruise Control system combined with the Drive Modes. I spotted this on my Ford Puma 2020 (which has very similar platform to Ford Escape/Kuga If you are on Normal, Slippery and Eco, the icon representing the car in front shows a Ford Fusion Switch it to Sport Mode and that car becomes a Ford Mustang Switch it to Trail Mode (which is interestingly what we get instead of Snow/Sand) and the car in front becomes an F150. Our icon also shows a whole load of rocks falling into a pile and the background to the dashboard shows some weird woodgrain pattern to give you the illusion of being in the woods on a "trail". Although I've yet to find any Ford Puma customer attempt to take their 1.0L Ecoboost on any offroad adventure.

I really like the new look. When I first saw one I thought it looked like a small Porsche Cayenne. Nice clean look. Looked to see what it was an was surprised to find it was an Escape. I’m happy with my GTI but I’d buy one of those.

I actually kinda like the styling of the new Escape, with all the new cars on the road with an angry looking front fascia, it's kind of intimidating and it makes me feel like all drivers might be angry at me- but this car has a nice little happy face front fascia, which might put drivers at ease, I know I smile when I see one.

I have gone through 2 Ford Escapes already. 1.5 Ecoboost engine. No problems. Ready to get the 2020 in a couple of months. Just went to the dealer to look at the 2020. Looks pretty and there is more room inside. Especially a bigger feel in the back seat area.

I’ve always had problems with Red Bull’s in the cup holder, this is legit.

It's actually pretty impressive that they fit the battery in the chassis without really affecting the cargo volume or shape. Still has a flat open trunk area.

Glad to hear lane centering is standard. Rav-4 started offering lane centering and adaptive cruise control standard in 2019 so I’m happy to rent those for long trips.

I just bought a 2020 Escape SE 1.5 and took it on a 350 mile trip to California and I’m in love! Really good on gas and plenty of passing power even being a 3 cylinder

I detailed my wifes car this weekend. There was a pen in every pocket, cubby, and compartment. Rather than digging through diapers, doggy collection bags, sunglasses, travel games, (we have 3 schoolage chidren) and various other flotsam; I would love for there to be one convenient place to store 1-2 pens.

I got a chance to spend a week with the SEL version of the car in which it comes with more power and AWD. It's a peppy little machine considering that it's meant to be a small SUV and I did turn off some of the driver aids as they were a bit intrusive but kept the parking sensors on. We had quite the snow storm when I took hold of the car and it handled the heavy snow quite well while other AWD vehicles were somehow sliding all over the place (AWD Mercedes sedan, Subaru Impreza WRX to name a couple).

That key card feature is also what i like on my Ford Ecosport. I store my two Gas Card in that key card.

I got an SE a week ago with the adaptive cruise control, AWD, and the 3 cylinder engine. I’ve been really enjoying it so far. Happy to have an AWD in the US northeast with winter coming and the adaptive cruise control is awesome.

Now I can escape the cops in a budget car, perfect.

I just started a lease on one of these and I made sure to watch this video before making my decision. I went from my little tank of a 2004 Volvo S40 (my mommom owned it before me and it never once stranded or shit out on either of us in the 17 years it was lugging us around) to this and I didn’t think any car could ever live up to my Nellie. It doesn’t have the sentimental value my old car had (I picked out the color of it back when I was 4 sitting in my Mommom’s living room) but this is one amazing car. If you’re thinking about buying or leasing a 2020 Escape, do it. It’s an amazingly efficient, reliable, honest car. I just was driving it around in snow the other day and didn’t slide once. I’ll only ever trust cars that Doug approves.

I had the opportunity to drive the 2019 Ford Escape brand new last year and I honestly didn’t think it felt old. Sure it didn’t feel cutting edge, but with Apple CarPlay/ android auto, remote start, start/stop, kick tailgate, auto ac, headlights, etc. it was pretty decent.

Im probably not the only one who finds your videos entertaining :) I checked this out just to see what Ford carried over from the escape into the Bronco Sport Badlands I just bought. Nice to see that a lot is similar but tweaked for the Bronco Sport

15:10 I think a reason some cars only have a storage pocket behind the passenger seat, and not the driver seat, is for accessibility to the driver to put things in it from their seat.

Used to love that keypad on my old MKX, It's the type of feature you just can't appreciate until you've owned it.

Revisiting this video now that I have upgraded from a Ford Puma to a Kuga 2022 - that "keycard" slot is basically a clever way to disguise blank switches in new Fords. Our Kuga is the plugin hybrid so that keycard slot is replaced with extra buttons for the EV mode and park assist. The heads up display button has been moved from the steering wheel to the cluster in the centre console as well. That blank between the Left Heated Seats and the Fan (-) button is the Quickclear Heated Front Windscreen - I'm surprised that isn't standard on all Fords over there as even the entry level Zetec in UK/Europe get's that. Interesting that the Escape doesn't have a moving 60/40 rear bench. One of the main reason's we upgraded to Kuga was the fact that the back seats could be slid forward or back for more legroom or boot space. You can even have a different configuration so one seat can be pushed all the way forward say for a rear facing child seat and the other all the way back for legroom. And I'm surprised you can't fold the seats from the boot - we absolutely can in the Kuga as well as from the seat itself. The outlet at the back was also replaced with USB C and USB A charging ports later on. Also, both front seats in the Kuga have map pockets so not sure why the Escape doesn't... We don't get the lighter coloured dash and seats however - only black (well at least not the UK market) For 2022 model year, they also got rid of the dots and replaced them with "lines"

Hello Doug, I really like your channel. I just got a kuga phev in italy and realized the reason for the 3 volume buttons arrangement on the steering wheel: ergonomics! You use much more volume down and up buttons than mute and those are much simpler to reach with hour thumb while driving. I must give credit to Ford Ford the solution !!! ☺☺

As a parent, NOT having a seat pocket on the rear of the driver's seat is awesome! It is SO annoying when I'm driving and the kids are playing with the back pocket. Slamming books into it. Seeing if their stuffed dog will fit. NOT having a back seat pouch is a selling point for me, personally. Yes, I know I'm late to the party.

Hey Doug, those safety lane keep features are in pretty much every new car, not just luxury vehicles. That auto fan feature though, that's fire.

The keypad is one of the features on my 2011 Escape that I COULD NOT live without. Absolutely brilliant. Do you know how many times I have seen guys have to get maintenance to bust their lock off because they locked their keys in their locker? I keep a spare locker key in my car. So when I did it...no big deal Went to the car, entered code, grabbed spare key, opened locker. Easy peasy.
