I am a statistician and study economic as well. What they did not tell you - the current inflation is a "special case". It was not caused by high demand, it was not caused by high wages nor any causes the central bank has known before. The current inflation is actually caused by the Globalization in which supply of commodities being moved from used to be cheap and low cost location to a high consumption high demand location. Now with the pandemic and war, that capabilities of globalization has been CUT, just CUT. To grow back local production takes a long long time like min 5 years and Cost More. By saying that, the usual fiscal policies that the central bank applied will not work well because people already has less in their pocket and now have to live with even less. What the government can do short term is to reduce the impact of the current inflation, they have no solution. The solution will take at least 2 years before the suffering can be reduced.

"A recession ultimately will bring inflation down." Well, what we have now is not a demand shock we can easily compensate by raising interest rates, but rather a supply problem. By raising interest rates we are going into recession and it is going to affect the overall demand and eventually bring inflation down, but at the cost of a magnitude of unemployment and so thats not really the most effective way, isnt it?

People demanding higher wages due to price rises is a symptom of inflation not the cause, the wage price spiral is myth people need to stop saying this. All inflation/deflation comes from central bank increasing and decreasing the money supply either by printing it out of thin air or increasing or decreasing the cost of borrowing it via interest rates. Pricing is linked to this but also separate. Businesses will price what they believe the consumer is willing pay regardless of supply and demand as there is profit motive. Rarely will businesses price based on raw materials/inputs alone. What is going to hurt is people who took large amounts of debt at low interest rates they really going to feel the pinch as their monthly repayments rapidly increase.

I don't understand why you have concerns about inflation if you're an American. As I know, inflation is %9 in the Us. However, if you have a look at eastern countries, for example Turkey, inflation is extremely high.
