Having been in New Orleans watching that Rams/Saints "no call" pass interference, I can tell you that the referees made it a point to leave the stadium VERY quickly (and quietly) after the game. Some lawsuits were actually filed by fans against the NFL for damages (loss of vendor revenue or something like that), deficiency of product, and a couple of other oddball suits.
@irar4665Рік тому
Actually, this one is closer than it looks! The contact from the corner is NOT as soon as it looks, and the ball is PASSING the 2 players just about simultaneous to the contact! I love how Detroit is represented three times in one video about controversial calls. For the Record: Tigers, Galarraga has a perfect game going... that would have been the final out. Lions, Tate catch: This one the officials got right and followed the rules correctly, just a stupid rule. It's entirely possible that the team could have gotten lined up and run a play to spike the ball in the 8 seconds that were left. Lions, Calvin catch: That's a catch.

@petepethesjr34222 роки тому
The fail Mary was the worst. How do you call that a TD when the ball was in the Packer players bread basket. That play kept the Packers from getting the first seed in the playoffs that year and a first round bye.
@danielbridger12612 роки тому
Not more controversial than robbing Galarraga of a perfect game by a hugely blown call at first.
@_bits_and_bytes2 роки тому
The reason it's a touchdown is because the rule for who "wins" a contested catch between the offense and the defense is shitty and doesn't take into account who has better control of the ball. By rule, if a player from each team is "fighting" over a catch, the catch goes to the offense, no matter what. Even though Seattle's WR barely has his hands on it and it's clear the GB defender has it secured in his arms, the ball is, by rule, in possession of the WR. The NFL's rules suck ass.
@danimrod34172 роки тому
It is my firm belief that every single call or close moment could be subject to review and any call made by a ref can be overturned in all sports. Human error is way too common for ref's eyesight and judgment to be the only factor.

@kushhazard31092 роки тому
@@birdy369 It’s too easy to get away with, especially in basketball. If you watch you’ll notice that damn near every play has at least 1 violation that refs can call but they don’t to allow gameplay. The genesis for all of those controversial NFL catch/no-catch calls is the Calvin Johnson TD catch against the Bears that was overruled. That single play set the precedent for over a decade to come. The Dez Bryant call happened because of the Calvin Johnson call. The NFL has somewhat recently wiped its hands clean of the burdensome Calvin Johnson precedent. They've officially disowned it, meaning that plays like the Dez Bryant play are now a catch going forward.

Getting full control of the ball with two hands, taking two steps, then putting the ball securely in one hand, and then landing on the butt before leaving the ball on the ground, and then called a touchdown on the field. Some context for the altuve clip. This was before a major sign stealing controversy emerged that revealed for the two years prior to that play, the astros had been stealing pitching signs by watching the televised broadcast and banging on trash cans when the pitch was offspeed. There were rumors that because they hadn’t been caught yet but there were no cans heard in 2019, that they might’ve switched to more covert methods (like a buzzer under altuve’s shirt). This was only fueled by altuve telling his team not to rip off his shirt and dodging the question after the game. a whole lot of youtubers n such have did a full on deep dive in uncovering evidence into the Astros cheating during a good majority of that years season, with usage of cameras and on queue sounds n calls to tell the batters what pitch the pitcher was going to throw (ie what signs meant what) and basically the batter would know what pitch was next, what was going to be a ball, n what to and not to hit. during most of the games in that season if you listen when the Astros are at bat you can hear what sounds like a big plastic trashbin get bashed once, or twice, just before a pitch and see that they swing on them but no sound, no swing.

This I'm sure is an infuriating way to lose but replays showed he was down by contact short of the goal line. Had this been called correctly by the refs on the initial play then maybe they get up to the line and get a play off or maybe not. But I think that's the part I would have a problem with. Now, to the naked eye, it's hard to see that that's not a touchdown without replay, so I can't really be mad that they missed it initially. I wish there was a better way to do a common sense application for the 10 second runoff here, that shouldn't have decided the game, but that's what the rule stated and I think the refs hands were tied. Just a really shitty situation.
