I think the inaugural ceremony did well as far as indicating that be America was young and strong and as the speech mentioned, we can are aware of our heritage as a melting pot. Future events led to other historical reminiscing, and those years left an enduring impression on those who lived them, and also mass media was being employed as never before. Later events have had a tendency to obscure the historical facts in a certain way,, but that causes more debate, one of the more critical be points of the 1960 election.

It's amazing how detailed these videos are and how grainy and low resolution all videos from November 22, 1963 are.

He loved his country & many loved him. Sadly -- he was too far involved in way too many violent confrontations. He bit off more than he could chew -- but he made history. So we gratefully at least acknowledge that. * Cav *

I was born in July 1951. I was only 10yrs old at JFK's inauguration yet I remember Vividly watching it on our Neighbors New Color TV (We, like many, still had a B+W TV). We were ALL SO EXCITED to see + hear our New Young President give his inspirational speech to the country.

Those were the days of civility, when the outgoing and incoming president cooperated to make sure the transition of power was smooth, when no one had to worry about viruses or Capitol-storming riffraff, and when presidential inaugurations were events to be savored. What a shame we couldn't have it this time. I hope we will see this comity again someday. Thanks for posting this great footage!
