Hi, after much thinking, I decided to rebuild and upgrade my jet engine. The results are not bad so far :-) Andy

It's incredible the sheer amount of performance a small addition like the cone can add on

And a 3s battery instead of a 2s on the fuelpump...
@D4RKBRU739 місяців тому
the 3S is to blame for the majority of gain not the cone
@cambridgemart2075Рік тому
You have done a great job, keeping the EGT that low shows a lot of potential, if you can get another 10k RPM, the thrust is going to be so much greater. Looking at something like a KingTech 450N turbine, they recommend a 2200mAh 3S battery for the ECU; it is worth looking at the fuel consumption figures (which I imagine will be very similar to yours) and what pumps they are using.

Tony Stark built this is a cave!!! With a pile of scraps!!!! Awesome work. Don't lock yourself down to what's been done already. If man thought these up, they did ages ago with many limitations.

@pauljs7511 місяців тому
That's rather good for a home-built unit. Two of those with the current thrust, and it would be sufficient for a manned micro-jet type aircraft with decent performance. (Look at the numbers for the BD-5J.)
@DEV_XOРік тому
Amazing videos mate! Watched all of them!
@Mister_GРік тому
Brilliant! That is already a beast, but it is barely awake with another 10k RPM to go! 😃
@robertgardner7470Рік тому
You have so much fun. I would have made the diffuser on rotary table make mill cuts every 12 degrees. I can't believe you did that on your lathe which of course resulted in random irregular spacing. You can get hearing loss without wearing hearing protection. At least use ear plugs.

Please be careful of loose objects at the intake. I don't want to see your SUPER STUNNING jet engine disintegrate. GOOD JOB!!!
@sammymuturi2024Рік тому
Maybe add a starter. Your work on genius level.
@C-M-EРік тому
Yay, you did it! Still betting on that theoretical 150lbs of thrust. 👍 Add: I missed it the first time, but I used a tea kettle for an intake house once before due to the pre-cut hole being rather nice. Never thought about using it for a nozzle, but I tend to have sized exhaust runners for a free power turbine on my larger units.
@PraendyРік тому
Hi, I think 150lbs are possible. I like to use household stuff. Next test with afterburner😁 Thank you! Andy
@C-M-EРік тому
@@Praendy I meant to add this to the previous comment but forgot during musings on tea kettles, but as I'm sure you're aware, jet engines really don't 'wake up' until they're above that magical 90% throttle zone. It's not uncommon for a well-engineered example to almost double its power output going from 92-104% throttle, though it's also right on the ragged edge of temps spiraling out of control. When you said you still have or expect another 10k rpm to play with, that's where there's a mighty lump of power dwelling in that hole. The AB on your current configuration ought to be Real Juicy!
@PraendyРік тому
I know, what you mean😁 So far it was only a hot fart for the engine. I guess 150lbs are minimum, but I also want to take care, not to overstress the engine. Now its 4 years ago, when i start the build. In April 2020 was the first run and now I have some positive results. 100lbs + afterburner should be ok for some tests and displays😊 Andy

could you make a tutorial on the inside? I might've missed it but I'm trying to make one myself. I'm making a model with internal combustion, what're the advantages to combusting at the rear? Also if you could make a link to some of the parts you used that would be awesome. Are you using one or two rear turbines?

That is an amazing result for your shop capabilities. Is this low speed low power testing? It is very quiet(because it isn't making any real rpm), and outputting a fraction of what I would expect for the size of engine.

Please do me on favor, when walking behind the engine and standing in the exhaust, please wear safety glasses. A stupid bug, or its grilled remains smashing at 500km/h into your eyes might cause permanent damage.

Apparently a B-47 bomber flew like a fighter jet. Imagine 6 of these on a scale B-47 that you could fly in. You might be able to cruise at over 200KIAS with this sort of thrust. Carrying the fuel might be a problem but what's a few small details LOL?
