Like I tell my kids, don't look at what it is, look at what you need. Not a simple oscillating engine. Center crank cylinder engine. No mill, no lathe and no tapping and threading. As an engineer I am impressed.

A beautiful, quite simple construction of a single-cylinder steam engine. I often use this principle with my synchronous motors, especially when I need to confirm the parameters of the oscillograms! Then it is not the mechanical accuracy that matters, but the winding system. Congratulations 😀 👌.

Awesome low-budget, low tech build. I too have a engineering heart and therefor love this project. Thanks for sharing!! Since you have soldering equipment, maybe use a 'tin' (iron/steel?) can from food, for the boiler. Empty that and solder it shut 😊 as it has higher melting point than aluminum can. Maybe it's also safer from leaking? Some presure valve as safety is maybe also wise, to keep the boiler from exploding. Although that's a bit extra 'complexity' and cost of course.
@mr619mohamed3
@mr619mohamed3 4 місяці тому
A good note: using valves maintains pressure and helps start the engine, first and second, to secure the tank from explosion

I love the door bolt idea for a piston etc. But how about taking it to the next level and make a Bourke steam engine with double pistons and a Scotch Yoke eliminating the need for a crankshaft ? The world needs the 'secret' Bourke engine for power generation, boats, aircraft and road/rail transport. Will send a link for those not familiar with the concept that was developed more than a century ago . Do this and I'll go into business with you.
