My experience with Fold5 vs Open is contrastingly different. I am a S23U went to Fold5 returned it and now Open and keeping the open. Better than fold5 in Battery , Camera and obviously front screen. Btw I do use unfolded . One unquestionably best was Samsung fold5 software . I miss that verymuch.

I have been using the Z Fold5 since it launched and I just got the N3 few days ago. Here's what I found 1. I agree, the Z Fold5 makes more sense. Slimmer cover display for fast and easy operation, and unfold when you need a bigger screen. The Oppo just wants best of both worlds 2. ColorOS is a whole lot smoother than One UI 5.1.1 and feels a lot more battery efficient. It creates a much nicer user experience. 3. The dock implementation is so much better on the Fold than the N3 4. Camera is no match, N3 is far superior. Oppo & Hasselblad have outdone themselves in this department 5. I think the N3's camera bump gives the device a unique look, it kinda makes you look like you're shooting with a pocket camera with that big lens and in my case, it actually gives me a place to rest my point finger when holding the phone 6. Multitasking feels amazing on the N3, but it does not mean it's better than Samsung's more simple implementation. It's just fresh and unprecented, something unique and different to experience 7. I find the gaming experience better on the N3 for some reason, it doesn't heat up as quickly as the Fold, in fact it doesn't heat up at all and battery drain is not as extreme. Probably due to the 16GB of RAM vs 14GB on the Fold. I play Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail for reference 8. I miss Samsung's Good Lock, the endless customisation is really what I live for. Gives my device a unique soul that only I can create 9. I never use wireless charging nor do I plan to. I'd rather have a really fast wired charging than half-assed wireless one but that's just me Will add more later
@NasiLemakTech
@NasiLemakTech 6 місяців тому
Point number 7 is not valid though. RAM usage on Android devices are... complicated. Here's how you can check out your usage. We have a video about it. ukposts.info/have/v-deo/j5-ZZY6epKKduKM.html Point 8... I think EV owners will want wireless charging since the car already has it in the cable. Even if the phone doesn't have wireless charging, I would want it to support USB-PD. I'm really not a fan of proprietary fast charging standards though.
@nico77212
@nico77212 5 місяців тому
@@NasiLemakTechyes ev owners would want wireless charging, but imagine a Tesla with a huge brick on top of the roof. And you would have to move a lot slower with that significant weight that you're carrying. I would rather go to a fast charging station, get coffee, relax and be on my way or go rent a room overnight while my car charges and be ready in the morning. And who in the right mind goes from home to work and charges a car mid journey? You charge it at work or at home don't you not?

Thank you for the review, ColorOS is what makes me contemplating on whether to buy it because I've use OxygenOS before and I really like the stock android experience. Currently thinking of getting OnePlus Open but importing it into Malaysia means the phone wont get warranty cover here. As for the Samsung Z Fold 5, I can get use to the cover display and liking the One UI optimize software experience for the app but the camera is what off for me. I also eyeing Tecno Phantom V Fold but there is not much review on the user experience of using the HiOS 13 Fold, is there any chance you'll take a look at it and make a review? The one Samsung feature that no other foldable has is 2 screen experiences. I set up my Zfold5 cover screen to be a candy bar, and I set-up the inner screen to be a tablet. Most people only highlight app continuity. Why have 2 devices (tablet and phone) mimick each other?
@weiming1038

I think one of the key question is if we can accept the narrower cover display on the Z fold 5. I'm a huge fan of Samsung's software, but the narrow cover display is the sole reason why I'm considering Oppo Find N3. I accept that there's a group that love the narrower front cover, unfortunately im just not one of them.

I bought OppoFindN3 recently, and I have to say the experience with it is much better than Samsung. Here's my core opinions on some points that I feel important. Oppo's own android skin is better than Samsung's, the grease is less obvious on Oppo while Samsung's is still really bad. Currently I think only Huawei, Oppo and Vivo had master this with very low profile grease on the folding screen. The screen size folded and unfold are just perfect to me. Camera is better than Samsung, the looks of the phone can easily identify where as Samsung's is so normal, if I don't see the side as a fold, I would think it's just some other cheap android phone instead. And over the years...Samsung's battery is poorly designed, either explode, or expand as shown previously at many phone reviewers on youtube. Besides being the first to release larger size smartphone and curve screen, there's almost nothing innovative and creative from Samsung. So I'm not interested to go for a brand that doesn't innovate and took over 3, 4 versions to improve the hinge design without the gap and slightly improve the grease issue. It gives me a feeling that Samsung is just playing the Apple iPhone game....takes few version to really give you a jump of upgrade and something actually new. UIUX experience wise, I guess it depends, to me I still prefer Huawei's over any other brands...but I would choose Oppo over Samsung...for my secondary phone to use in Hong Kong for apps that I can't get from Huawei's HOS system. There's a misleading experience from this video...when he talks about apps display size....most apps refer to Samsung when it's being developed...so some app display size would look awkward on folding phones with wider screen and shorter height. So judging the phone with this aspect is not very reasonable. And lastly, I still like and prefer my 3 years old Huawei Mate 40Pro+ phone over any Samsung phones...or other brands. Huawei's own eco system design is really much better, smoother and smarter than any Android phones or iPhone can offer. Regarding FindN3 can't unfold flat is a smart design actually...it reduces the chance of stretching the inner screen to the max. It's not that easily damaged compare to those that can unfold all flat. And I agreed, the price on OppoFindN3 is quite high, given Honor's folding phone has similar quality...this would make you feel why would Oppo, Vivo or even Samsung charge so much.

They're both good phones, and they're different enough that their features will appeal to different buyers. The Z Fold is still more comfortable for one-handed use AND grip, 1TB option, better water intrusion protection, Dex, S pen which can actually be carried on the phone, better software support, wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, Good Lock, easier hardware support if you have issues.... The Open has blazing fast wired charging, more versatile camera setup, and that wider front screen so you never have to unfold your foldable. To answer the question of why buy a foldable if some of us primarily use the cover screen is that I personally want the familiarity of a daily phone with the capability of opening into a small tablet without carrying both. I don't always feel the need to consume content 24/7 and checking email or searching and texting is a little easier (for me) on a wider screen. It's just preference. Had I been forced into Samsung Fold's aspect since the begining of my smart phone usage I would probably complain that the phones we have now are too big. Galaxy folds are great but the argument still remains that people wanted wider options and oppo/oneplus and pixel delivered that. Now there's a US market for all three sizes which is great and a nice step forward.

Thank you for the video. Finally, a reviewer that has been using the Z Fold himself, and hence knows why its aspect ratio is better. I have many other scenarios as well which speak for the aspect ratio of the Z Fold. Also, the only one that really tested the screens and did not just repeat Oppo’s/1+’s marketing narrative. The screens of the Z Fold are better. Period. The only really new (I still need to test its implementation) aspect of the Find 3/1+ Open is the Boundless View, but it can't compensate even closely all the other missing software aspects. Alone the split view which does not allow for a seamless resizing of both windows is a no-go. To be honest almost all software options that Find N3/Open offer are just a copy of the Samsung’s, but most of the time a bad implementation, like the Edge panel, or the task bar, or the Flex Mode. Speaking of the Flex Mode: It is one of the highlights of the Z Fold software, combined with the hinge that offers a far more unfolded range without auto-closing. Oppo/1+ just have pseudo implementation in the Camera app and UKposts. In case of Samsung the mode works even with unsupported apps. The Z Fold software is made for multi-tasking and usage as tablet. This is the main and most important aspect of a book-style Foldable. If I may: not sure whether the Alert-slider is a big advantage when you can also link mute/unmute to the Z Fold’s “press and hold side key” (via RegiStar), plus the endless options of the One Hand Operation+. The Z Fold is in a league of its own regarding hardware and software that are relevant for users of a book-style Foldable and tablets in general.
@NasiLemakTech

I do agree I can have alternatives for the alert slider. It's just not tactile enough. And yes the hinge on the OPPO/1± has a smaller angle range. Tends to snap open more than the Z Fold 5

And saying that you cant use one hand on the open mode, well no one uses a tablet one handed right? So it was ment to be used with both hands when its open. I saw you holding the unfolded phone with one hand and im like, no one in the right mind holds the phone like that! Especially when majority of the people use rings or popsockets in the first place.

The Oppoismich cheaper than the Samsung in most of the world. Also that graph beginning at 7k is so stupid. It makes the oppo look twice the price of the Samsung which it clearly is not.

My fellow malaysian, this is a good review. The price review is pretty good and fresh perspective. In the US, Oneplus is price lower than Fold 5 at same storage. However in MY its the other way round. Nevertheless, solid effort

Take it however you want. Everything I presented are facts. OPPO's screen quality is terrible btw. And USB PD is used by laptops too - only china phones want to use their own proprietary charging standards that can't even charge their own laptops.

Why I use the cover display 80% of the time and still chose a foldable? Because the 20% of the time I dont want to lug around an ipad or a tablet in my pocket/bag or even have to remember to bring one, simple as that (not sure why this concept is so hard to grasp for people). Also scrolling in bed (which is where small cover screen is annoying) with the phone unfolded and accidently falling asleep with the phone unfolded puts it at higher risk of breaking the inner screen. Can't wait to get rid of my fold3

Thank you for the honest opening. And ill at this time point out that your honest review is also only your opinion. A point that needs to be made. Your opinion is just that, an option. Some like me, feel that Samsung is overpriced and no better than many other brands. As you said neither of these are better or worse than the other. As a matter of opinion, and ill grant you that. Ive owned a few Samsung phones over the years and despite my attempts to like them i just cant. Hardware is fine but the duplicated software, appst that CAN NOT BE REMOVED OR DISABLED, are unfogivable. Horribly bloated UI on Samsung. You could not pay me to use those things. OP on the otherhand has very good hardware and a very usable UI without the truck load of bloatware that cannot be removed or disabled. How great a camera is is less important for a lot of us than how stable our phones are. And in my experience across all the OP devices i own. I can say ill take a OP over a Samsung anyday of the year. As an example. Im in the US. Models released here i have the Nord N30, 10t, 10Pro, 11, and the Open. Models not officially released in the US the Nord 3. Everyone works to my expectations. And would not trade any for a Samsung of any model. Point behind this post is. This video is his op9 and he has every right to it. But his view does not mean his pick either way is right for you. Regardless, before you buy any device, do your homework. Know your needs at the very least, then consider your wants and then! Make a hopefully well educated purchase.

As a Z Fold user since Fold 3 I hope and I am sure Samsung will not change the aspect ratio of the main screen. It is not made for fans of slab phones. It is made of people wanting a pocketable tablet.
@NasiLemakTech
@NasiLemakTech 6 місяців тому
Highly doubt I'll want a wider aspect ratio. Like I mentioned, using it one handed is the best at this aspect ratio. I forgot to add it in the video - the Z Fold 5 unfolded has the same width as the iPad Mini. No wonder I like the size of the iPad Mini so much when it was first released.

I'll be a little upset if tha happens. The ability to FIRMLY grip your $1800 phone while you're using it out and about is absolutely unmatched. You can even hold the Z UNFOLDED with one hand, edge to edge, so you can use your S pen comfortably.
