There was more content in the closed beta than there is currently on the live game. Also, once you finish with the first guy you get to do it all over again with another NPC that is moderately cool. Then there's the fact that you can get to the best ship/best build within 1-2 days of gameplay. Oh and the fact that the dhow is completely useless and last I heard was removed from the game. Also also, there's tons of ways to exploit all of the pvp events including taking over an entire server so you never lose a helm wager or cutthroat cargo event. Also also also, the hardest content in the game can be solo'd with one weapon from 2km away (twin winch ballista) by simply preventing the enemy from becoming hostile.

I keep thinking the idea of two ships packed with real players manning cannons racing to see who boards the other first should have been a feature of Star Wars Battlefront 3...

The fact that Yves "I Still Have Yet To Take Any Kind Of Accountability Over The Fact That My Company Actively Protected Sexual Predators In Its Ranks" Guillemot had the gall to call this pile of crap a AAAA game is just insulting, especially since the only reason this game actually saw the light of day is because if they didn't release it the government of Singapore would sue Ubisoft into oblivion. Even more mind-blowing is how they managed to screw up such an easy game to make. This was an absolute layup. Here's what they had to do: Step 1: Take AC: Black Flag. Step 2: Remove all references to Assassins and Templars. Step 3: Ship the game. Would have likely had a GotY contender.

Those pirate cats are the only worthwhile part of the whole game

The only reason Ubisoft didn't cancel this years ago was that they took too much money from the Singaporean government to fund development. They had to release something, or else be forced to repay them.

The idea of a ship combat game thats a lot like black flag, is a really good idea! But NO BOARDING!? NO SWASHBUCKLING!? What the hell!?

So ten years ago they made an excellent open world pirate game. Instead of taking that, expanding it, and reskinning it from AC to general piracy, they spent a fortune to make a game that does less than a ten year old game, and a feature in several of the recent AC games. How? Why?

Sea of Thieves so much infinitely better.

Skull and Bones managed something no game did before. I read the review from Die Zeit about it. Why? They had actual employees from Ubisoft Mainz trying to explain this mess. Which was funny as heck because they kept repeating that their Studio wasn't directly involved in any of the development of this title as they were busy with their ~8000th Anno.
