Not so fun fact: While the production mostly obscured the date of the movie, the Little Orphan Annie decoder he uses dates it specifically to 1940. That is, one year before Pearl Harbor. This was Ralphie's favorite Christmas because it would be the last real Christmas of his childhood, due to WWII.

I can top that easily!! This has been a Christmas Eve/Christmas morning MUST in our home. My 3 boys could quote most of the movie. Now they are watching it with their own kids. We LOVE it and think it is perfect! Favorite line: "Meatloaf, smeatloaf, double beatloaf. I hate meatloaf"!! My adult sons STILL say that when I serve meatloaf.

You didn't say "you'll shoot your eye out"! Also, the sketch show aspect is probably the reason it's been so successful playing on a 24-hour loop with nobody at the TNT/TBS master control board - you can tune in for a few minutes between opening presents and Christmas dinner, or whatever, and follow what's going on. I don't think I've sat down and watched the whole thing through since sometime in the '90s.
