This explains why the honey badger had to challenge the Onyx head on, is because the Onyx was blocking the path to the small pond.

This, mixed with them being capable of using anal glands to basically act like a skunk, likely more intelligent of an animal than most they fight, and being absolutely fearless makes them more than capable of taking down an Oryx
