Before the 2020 Olympic qualification (which she lead Team Korea to the Olympic) the last important tournament was Woman World Club Championship (around 5-6 month ago) where all the today's superstars were playing and guess who was the best outside hitter of the tournament? KiM Yeong Koung! Staying 10 years on the top of the tops is not an easy task and is not something every athlete can do! She is a legend, end of the story.

She played in Fenerbahce(2012) and Vitra in Turkey. She played in Chinese league too. The offers for her were incredibly high as she's one of the highest paid volleyball players. And she's Zhu Ting's(an olympic gold medalist) favorite volleyball player.

Kim was the MVP of London Olympics, used to be the best and highest paid. It's no longer the case now, as she's past her prime, so the video is a little exaggerated. The best in the world now is Chinese player Zhu Ting, the MVP of Rio Olympics, 2015 World Cup and 2019 World Cup. But even Zhu Ting considered Kim her idol when she first debuted and the two are good friends. Both Zhu and Kim have done Asia proud on the international stage. I love them both.

Kim yeon koung is my idol and absolute queen. I hope I can see one of her matches in person before she retires.

She maybe not the best volleyball player unlike her prime years but the fact remains that even years have passed, she is still competing with the likes of Zhu, Egonu, Boscovic, and Ebrar who are younger than her. All of them are legendary, but Kim is on a different category of legends. We can say that KYK is on the same level with Saori of Japan - all-around players that can dig, receive, spike, and block with consistency and leadership for their team.
