You should do a video on how taking 2 levels into fighter is basically better than getting capstone abilities. Very few subclasses are worth taking to a full lvl 20.

I think what makes it worse is they did get Moonbeam in the UA version, so somewhere along the lines, they decided that the *moon* themed subclass shouldn't have access to the only explicitly moon themed spell in the game.

Small correction to make on the Full Moon Lunar Empowerment feature: the advantage only applies to creatures in the *bright light* that you shed, and the bright light is only the first 10 ft, not the full 20 feet of total light. Additionally, it's worth noting the the blinding ability of the Full Moon's Lunar Phenomenon only effects creatures of your choice, meaning there's no risk of blinding your allies.

Does the waxing and waining feature mean you get ALL those free spells just for the cost of one sorcery point, meaning you basically get quite a few free spells times how many points you have?

@@Quaznick_Ruttner yes, and you're not the first to be confused, a lot of these abilities are shockingly badly written! It feels like a very clunky subclass to me, perhaps they didn't have time to polish it? I tried to explain as best I could, but basically, you get a free casting of each 1st level spell per long rest, if you're in its respective moon phase, so you kind of get 3 free spells for two sorcery points!

Dnd shorts I know you probably aren’t reading this but could you do a video on the black hole gun. What I mean by this is by constructing a gun of sorts that shoots a bag of holding and when the bag hits it’s target. Another bag goes into the previous bag. Thus creating a black hole gun.

Welp, I'm kinda disappointed with the lunar sorcerer. Like, the UA version had some better spells, and... I CANT BELIEVE THEY TOOK MOONBEAM FROM THE SPELL LIST. But yeah, it still a good subclass anyway. Love your videos, shout-out from Brazil ❤️

Lunar sorcerer makes me so sad. Most of the features are effectively useless, and most of the spells it gets are mediocre at best. Treantmonk went into way more depth in the video about it than I can in a comment, but it went from genuinely being kinda busted in the UA to still coming in behind clockwork soul or aberrant mind, the 2 subclasses people generally consider to be the most "busted" PLUS HOW COULD THEY GET RID OF MOONBEAM IT'S LITERALLY A MOON MAGIC SUBCLASS

Why does everyone go on about Moonbeam? It's one niche moveable small AoE spell that requires you to spend your action to move it that just so happened to have "Moon" in its name. For a sorcerer I can think of plenty of other spells I'd rather use my concentration slot on. Plus they took Evocation out of the rotation for the phases, so it would be somewhat inconsistent for the a phase to grant a spell it's not associated with.

So glad to see the Kender getting some flavorful love. One of my favorite parts of the book is when the party encounter their first dragon and how Tasslehoff just gets weirded out. In general seeing Dragonlance getting any love is fantastic, one of my favorite book series, and favorite old pc games from back in the day

Because the Kender are the game's embodiment of "why are you made at me? I'm just roleplaying. This is how the character I created specifically to do stupid things would behave! Why are you getting mad at me for roleplaying?!" so why WOULDN'T you want them to have new and unique ways to do stupid things that will piss off the rest of their group?

The lunar sorcerer sounds fun to roleplay with a mechanical addition where you actually tie it to the in-world phases of the moon. So when theres a full moon you are a little buffed but when there is an eclipse you pull a full-moon Inuyasha and become powerless. Maybe especially for werewolf themed plots.

I think the black robes feat with being able to use hit die for damage is going to be really strong. Especially considering how short the adventuring day is for most games I have ever played. The hit dice for healing on short rests are used by it not to the point I wouldn’t rather change them out for extra damage. And especially in a situation where you crit the damage potential with that is awesome

Hey, great videos. Ive noticed in a few of your videos a small audio issue. When you are recording at the table, there is a deep rumble possible distortion in the recording. It may also be the placement of the lav mic in your beard, that is picking up the rumble of your throat. Or it distortion from the levels while recording. Outside of this the rest of the audio is excellent and the editing it great! I hope this feedback is helpful, keep making the great videos

The lunar sorcerer is ridiculously overcomplicated. And, as a DM, I would not allow anyone at my table to play kender. Not because of the feats, but because of past experiences with how kender are played.

Remember for Lunar sorcerer, phantom steed is a great spell because it’s a ritual but sorcerers don’t have ritual casting meaning for you it’s a 3rd level spell slot and 1 minute casting time for 1 hour duration.

@@jeffdietz630 Which ones are those? I only count something like two to four that really have limited utility. Several are niche, but that's part of the idea of additional spell lists; they give you access to some additional options without using up known or prep slots.

You mentioned that Life Channel was just a bit of extra damage on Fireball.... but it's also extra damage on Paladin Smite Spells, or Arcane Trickster sneak attacks, or just Eldritch Knight blade cantrips. The Precise Strike of Squire of Solamnia is also extra damage for any martial. Stack the two together and you get some spicy damage going.

For the Adept of Nuitari the Wither and Bloom spell is a nice choice as it is a necromancy spell that does damage and heals (using Hit Dice) my plan is to run a Fighter Eldritch Knight and take basically all the Knight of the X feats by Lv 8 and the Adept of Nuitari feat at Lv 4 as having the D10 hit dice to throw at extra damage should be quite interesting

With the lunar sorcery thing, I don't understand why/how they've not realized there is another lunar phase which exists: gibbous (no, it's not just for Lovecraft stories!), which is when it is over half in either waxing or waning. It seems really short-sighted to not realize this, and to be giving nearly half the month to absolutely nothing as a result.

The big problem with the sorcerer subclass is that although it gets some good spells, none of the 3 phases give the lunar sorcerer anything comparable to the best subclasses, and, as you said, the other abilities are, as you said, not great.

Color spray is actually really good at low levels, as there is no save, and it is until the end of your next turn. Yes, blindness/ deafness is technically better, but color spray can be more consistent when you really need it.

If a DM allows all of the Knight feats to be gained freely, your paladin or fighter in the party is gonna be very potent on the battlefield if you get all three. Knight of the Crown's Commanding Rally is just a better version of Commander's Strike as it only takes a bonus action instead one of your attacks in the Attack action on top of that. Combine Squire of Solamnia, Knight of the Crown, Knight of the Sword, and the Distracting Strike maneuver and you can literally do a 1-2 punch of advantage with the party Rogue for crazy damage. I love it.

Some make sense to have the dragonlance campaign prerequisite cuz ya some campaigns are “easy” enough that those extra 1st level spells might end up being OP but dragonlance seems to push back just as hard to even out potentially overpowered casters or fighters

The amount of extra spells doesn't matter when most are super poor spells. It's a trap because you think LOTS = good. Clockwork and Aberrant Mind have a few less spells, but they have MANY good ones, and they're ALL replaceable. Lunar is 100% not up to par with recent sorcerer subclasses on a power basis. If you like the flavor, go wild with it. Keep in mind, you can't ritual cast as a sorcerer. Steed eats a FULL spell slot.

everybody always says that the save or suck spells are top tier, but every DM i ever played with has always had insane luck with saving throws. i have literally never gotten a CC spell to stick. . .so i end up just spamming magic missiles and the bolt cantrips

In OG Dragonlance there were 3 moons in different phases at different time. Each moon had power over Good, Evil, or Neutral.

If you use standard array you are going to have odd ability scores that you can even out with a half feat. This should help.

Me Personally look at lunar sorcerer as a trash subclass, but the 6th level and 14 level features are really good but I think thats like the major buff due to most play doesn't go all the way to reach 18th level. If some of the old spells remained would make the extra spells actually good but like a majority of the spells are just..bad.

Wait what...changing the phase of the moon could have horrendous effects on everything.... 1 does it fasy forward or rewind time to get to the intended phase? 2 if not does it cause tide waves force shifting the moon in the sky? What happens to eveyone everywhere, randomly causing all lycan to spontaneously shape change and shread the townsfolk because you forced a full moon?....

Honestly, Mounting and Dismounting for 5ft vs half of your speed of movement makes the Cavalier Fighter a lot more versatile. Plus the piercing trait is very key to the DL campaign because of the Dragon Lance's themselves. I say it is a very good feat.

Kender are nice and all, but I want to play as a Draconian. Brutal and militaristic, with a _Ka-BOOM_ at the end! So give me a draconian race, a better minotaur race option, and tinker gnome and gully dwarf subraces too.

My take on this; the gulf between god tier mages and worthless melee gets far bigger and the new Species ironically makes a great Barbarian. Taunt really should be in the base Fighter/Barbarian/Paladin/Ranger kit as they are the ones from a design perspective who should theoretically be on the front lines

IME front liners don't need a taunt, it is very likely the enemies they are engaged with will hit them anyway. Especially a reckless barbarian that is easy to hit or a paladin dealing heaps of damage. Melee characters get attacks of opportunity to punish enemies for moving past them, and grappling (or sentinel) to force an enemy to stay and fight. It's really not hard to make a frontline tank if you want to, it just means sacrificing a bit of damage to do so.

Lunar Sorcerer might have 15 spells but most of them are pretty meh or situational. It's not that mindblowing (yes the UA version was way stronger but unfortunately that's not what they're going with so you know...). Also the reduction of Metamagic cost is nice but it only works if you're in the correct phase of the moon, which costs another sorcerer point to switch, which kinda negates the whole point.

I don't know how many of these posts you get the chance to read but I'm putting out my request with hope you may see it. My DM and I have been discussing the power levels of the wizard (spell classes) vs the fighter (melee classes) at 10th level. The reason this is a discussion is that our adventures and campaigns rarely go beyond 10-12th level. So we don't even get the ultra powerful abilities of the later levels. So your opinion what do you think? Wizards start to take the lead at 10th level or are the fighters still pulling ahead? Any way to prove it more than just an opinion? Just an idea for a video and answering a fan's question.

Honestly I kinda like something like this subclass being so powerful. I feel like powerful subclasses should require more effort on the players part. It levels stuff out a bit. Something that is hard to play but rewards you for doing so feels like a good way to go balance wise

I want to see more hardcore content put into 5e. Give us harder monsters at every level. More complex and intricate dungeons, forts, mazes, etc. To balance with the powerful races, feats, backgrounds, classes and subclasses, we need more intense obstacles.

By that logic, Divine Soul is also broken since it gives the player access to the base spell list of the best class in the game, even more if the DM is cool enough to let them use the optional spells for cleric.

Sorcerer's biggest weakness is versatility! A full caster, with an abysmally low 15 spells at level 20 (compare this with an artificer's 25 prepared spells), adding an additional 15 spells known quite literally _doubles_ this classes day-to-day versatility! (Reading the text, it makes it clear moon phase does not change the spells known list, all15 spells are always known!)

I love how he keeps saying Taunt means you can call them a bitch. That's head canon now; the Taunt ability is now the Call Them a Bitch ability. Also, these Knight of Solamnia Rallies already exist as Battle Manuvers, so why can't I just be a Battle Master Fighter with the Superior Technique Fighting Style and take other feats like Tough or Mage Slayer?

Nothing stopping you from doing that, or you can emphasize being a battle master and take these giving you even more uses. And since it's a different feature, it sounds like they'll stack for even more damage on crits.

Question. So I was toying around with multiclass and I came up with a warlock/rogue build and I need an answer. So I went with pact weapon and got improved pact weapon and I went with a soulknife , so if the manifested dagger weapon of the soulknife in an attack gets d6 +6 damage..could I also make that weapon a pact weapon and gain whatever advantages I would get IE +1 to hit and damage ect.. seems like say casting the cantrip that gives you auto advantage on an attack and stacking that with backstab+ eldritch smite and I don't know say the psychic ability that lets you add your psychic dice to the attack roll should you miss..almost seems to good to be true..adding in the soulblade also being a pact weapon would be cool right?

Oh and the ability of the soulblade to get a bonus attack with and offhand soulblade beans that if you just straight up attacked then you could get two normal attacks and a a b..or is it just one bonus attack..because the way its written is says an attack gets a bonus off hand and with the hybrid build you can get two attacks with thirsting blades..so is it two attacks and one bonus or a bonus attack for each attack?

Wait there's an actual tool to craft spells now?! Shit my old DM homebrewed a shrinking spell for me in our first campaign. Was mostly for goofing off but it also let me break an encounter that was supposed to party wipe us 🤣 I'd love to see what kinda spells people come up with

i play a goblin merchant/artficer and i almost kill my party everytime i use fire ball it became a running gag ( NO NIX YOU CANT USE FIRE BALL HERE WE ALL GONNA BE STUCK IN THE EXPLOSION IF U DO SO .....)
