As an American who has served, I believe we are extremely fortunate to have allies like Australia, Great Britain, Japan and many more. Yes the U.S. is very powerful but I believe the greatest strength comes from fostering powerful alliances between free nations.

Australia and the US not only allies but a friends. The US and Australia have stood shoulder to shoulder in every major conflict in modern times. More important is that Australia is a country the US can count on, and vice-versa. The US, Canada, Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand stick together no matter what. There is deep affection in the US for Aussies, in fact I'm going to crack a Fosters right now. Cheers Mate!

Thanks to those Australians who support the US. My grandfather was among the first American troops to arrive in Australia during WW II. Fought along side Australians. China’s biggest problem is managing a large scale amphibious assault without being detected .It took the US and Britain three full scale amphibious assaults (North Africa , Sicily and Italy) before attempting Normandy and even then it was helped enormously because of a strategic surprise.

As an American, we should be totally committed to helping any and all allies. Australian people are amazing and kind and deserve everything we could give to them.

When I went to Sydney, out of VN, in 1968, I was approached by an elderly lady who asked if " I was a Yank"? I told her yes that I was on R&R from VietNam. She was the only person in my military career who then said to me, "Thank you, we appreciate what you are doing, just as your fathers did for us in WW II!

Never underestimate your enemy. Remember, as much as both sides might hurl propaganda at each other, we are both at great stake.

This is one of the main reasons that we want Ukraine to succeed if anything to serve as a cautionary tale to China regarding Taiwan.

The First Question that should be asked before any of this is "Are the Taiwanese willing to fight for their so called Taiwan Independence?"

My veteran WW2 family that's left in there 90s continues to say we're repeating 1937 all over again with all the warning ⚠️ there just different players events and circumstances but the outcome remained the same it led to another catastrophic world war that wiped out almost 100 million people in only 7 years but the events that led up to it started in the end of the 20s into early 30s and the disturbing negative buildup way way before the Biggest Kaboom In Modern History that changed are earth and way life forever and paved the way to the next catastrophic mistake and mess the Korean War and Vietnam War that both cost us catastrophically on levels that has has stayed with us since that period time

Uniting Germany and Austria was supposedly inevitable. It was portrayed as the culmination of the unfinished process of uniting all the various German states (Prussia, Bavaria etc) that had been apart for various historical reasons. Supposedly Berlin would supposedly never give up on it. And yet now basically nobody in Germany cares and there is no effort to merge the two countries. Beijing tries hard to portray taking Taiwan as inevitable, but it's not.

To those following current world news and followed the news before WWI and WWII, It's very difficult to now say that WWIII is not inevitable. The tensions world wide now because nobody can get along, and all seem to have forgotten the horrors of war are building up to a powerkeg and inevitable world conflict, if not already there.

All looks pretty impressive, however there is a bit of a ditch between China's army and Taiwan, and seaborne invasions are very difficult, very technical I just do not see them getting it right

Taiwan people have firmly rejected the idea of becoming part of China. That's been shown on multiple polls over decades. Taiwan people also firmly rejected China's so-called "One Country Two Systems", which has proven a disaster as examplified by Hong Kong. Taiwan President Tsai stands firmly on that position, which is one main reason people voted for her in 2016 and 2020. Every Taiwanese above 20 has a direct vote in presidential election.

I'm a veteran and I've seen the ramifications and ugliness of war up close and It's imprinted on my mind like a branding iron. I find the term "war-games" not only an oxymoron but repulsive.

Armed combat always comes down to doctrine, logistics, intelligence, unit cohesion and leadership redundancy. It's very easy to look capable when a mountainside isn't shooting back, and the guy next to you isn't disappearing in a pink mist.

I studied foreign policy in university. Similar to how Britain gifted America technology in WW2, I firmly believe we should be gifting submarine and aviation technology to Australia. There were several military academia reports that stated that if Australia and New Zealand had access to more sensitive US aviation and submarine technological capabilities. They would be able to rapidly use them to develop their own systems. By Australia having an extremely powerful submarine and fighter aircraft fleet , allows them not only to protect against China, but allows them to help protect some of the most important waterways in the Indian Ocean. Australia is a country that's going to have massive global significance over the next century, and we need to do more to help our allies. When you look at an aggressive and expanding China. They're going to follow the same strategy of the Japanese had in WW2. They need the Philippines, the Indonesian, and Australian areas. The metal, rubber, oil, just the vast natural resources of this area makes it critical for long-term war effort and economy. As an American 100% in supportive of our Australian allies and I think we need to be doing more! We need to be building new joint military facilities, exchanging technology and have a highly integrated military systems, I would even propose as going as far as building joint infrastructure projects together.

I think that the outcome of any conflict will come down to the level of training and experience that each side has. The US and, to a lesser extent, Australia have recent experience with fighting in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan. China's experience with war consists of border skirmishes with India and a short fight with Vietnam in the 1970's. China also relies on its armed forces to maintain control in several areas that would experience unrest, if not open revolt, if those forces were drawn away to fight any US/Australian coalition.

I thought it strange so much time was spent on Darwin without mentioning the Japanese attack during World War 2. Surely that has a big effect on the local perspective. We could guess it makes them think and feel whatever, but seems like an obvious question to just ask the residents so no one is guessing.

Historically, Chinese Army's performance hasn't been too impressive, to say the least. Corruption is always rampant, and morale could be very low. Very few, if any, have real battlefield experience. The Russian Army was feared by many until their incompetence was exposed. The same may very well happen when China attempts a large scale military action.

Taiwan has 5 iconic features. Convenience stores, night markets, sheet metal houses, scooters and temples🥰👍. Although it's way far from comparing with the lifestyles of beauty and graceful architectures, designings of Europe, prosperity with great combination of the old and new cultures and infrastructures and magnificent art works of China, Japan and Thailand, entertainment, fashion and prosperity of the U.S., Korea and H.K., or healthy, simple and harmonic environment of Singapore, Canada and Australia. Yet in terms of food and convenience it's performing over the average. With this World first or second amenities of life and convenience store we need to thank to a lot of talent, friendly and deligent staffs working in the industry. Taichung, Taidong and bush walking of Northern coast are some of those tourists are not that familiar but also worthwhile to visit. There's a lot of cousines with chicken, Beef, pork, tepanyakis, noodles, hot pots, soups, dumplings, bread and pastries, snacks, fried stuffs, breakfast, coffee shops, fruits and beverages. In terms of hygiene, platings and decorations, environment and atmospheres, accommodation and friendly communication are probably can be much improved. But amounts and prices which is cost performance ratio is above the World average. In Taiwan people like salty sweet, bittery sweet or hot sweet taste so food tended to be a little bit smooth sweet than the other places. Some of those good food come from the famous shops and some from small shops or shops in traditional markets are even better. There's still ones not that good but the propotion are relatively less. The problem about early detection of any Chinese attack against its enemies are its huge "fishing fleets" that sail by the hundreds. It's really certain that China will use them to launch their first strikes and perhaps even as troop transports.

I think the invasion of Ukraine has set back the invasion of Taiwan for years if not decades. It is a treasure trove of information. Strategies to inflict maximum attrition are surely being studied by Taiwan. And if China has any good sense, they'll ask themselves "what if Taiwan actually fights back?" and re-write their strategy from scratch.

The spokesman for China states, if Australia wants to join the USA against China then it should be ready for armageddon. In my opinion, he should also place his motherland in the same situation to face armageddon and the end of China as it exists today.

My Grandmother who is a Centenarian told me that she had been to TW twice, once was before the Chinese Revolutionary Wars, the second time was after the Wars. It will be the tragedy of our life times if wars were to break again. But it probably will, so it will be the burden we as ethnic Chinese People will have to bear.
