Video Summary:
The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft is now launching astronauts from American soil. The Spacecraft has two parts: the capsule and the trunk. The capsule can fit a crew of four. The trunk has the radiator panels and the solar panels. The Spacecraft is launched aboard the Falcon 9 Rocket which is a 2 stage rocket. The launch happens in Florida at Launch Complex 39A. The Transporter Erector moves the rocket from the Horizontal Integration Facility right up next to the Fixed Service Structure. The astronauts get to ride in a Tesla Model X. They take the elevator up to the top and then walk across the Crew Access Arm to get to the White Room. This is where Crew Ingress will happen. From launch to orbit takes about 9 minutes. Over the following 24 hours the Crew Dragon will catch up and dock to the International Space Station. First the series of 3 waypoints, then Crew Hands Off Point (CHOP), then Soft Capture and then Hard Capture. Then say hi to the astronauts that are already on board the station.

I just would like to say thank you Jared. I am legally blind and thus can never see 3D animations.... until you've come along. Somehow, I can actually see and follow along with your animations. You show a large picture, then slowly, but smoothly, zoom in to show it in more detail. Everyone just does quick cuts and small arrows to point out things which I never can folliw along with as. Instead, you notably change the opacity of items and slowly fade out uneeded elements rather than just quickly cutting them out. The result is that your eye can easily follow where you're supposed to look and isn't just dotting around the screen trying to figure what exact part you're talking about. I appreciate how everything is made with high contrast and every element is distinctly colored to appear different from any surrounding details. Overall, I can't thank you enough. I've never been able to understand what I'm looking at and thus struggled to learn how these things work. You've made learning fun and obtainable. That alone grants you a lot of respect from me.

@@TheSkillMasterHD Its a safety protocol. When falcon is coming in it actually aims itself off target from the barge into the water. This is so if the landing burn doesn't ignite for whatever reason, it wont crash into the drone ship and destroy it. If and/or when the engine ignites and starts up...the falcon has permission to self correct itself and aim for the droneship at the last second. It’s just dawning on me how significant re-usability is in spacecraft. Been playing KSP and learning a lot more about space hardware for reference (mainly to make my stuff look better lol). Playing career mode with expensive and massive disposable single-use rockets hurt because of how many parts I lose from staging. Whenever I have to launch for science/data, I squeeze each mission for as much as I can because I know I’m losing money because of it.

This video is perfect! Keep doing what your doing. This helped me explain to friends and family how this all works. They didn't understand my space jargon, but I had them try, and they watched the video, and now you got their attention. lol. Thanks Bud! - NOM

10:48 Actually Elon didn’t found Tesla. It is a common misconception, and a lot of people think that Elon founded Tesla, but the original founders were Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. Elon became a big investor of Tesla, and was pretty high up on the list of potential replacement CEO’s. Tesla started going through hard times financially, and it was in and out for CEO’s until it got to Elon. Elon saved the company and revolutionized the automotive industry. Sorry, I just had to say that. Other than that one small detail, your videos are amazing! They are really informational and fun to watch! Keep up the good work!

Jared’s videos are so detailed, I have no words to describe your videos! A bit of nerdy facts here: The falcon 9 actually came in 3 different versions which includes version 1.0, version 1.1 and the latest is the Falcon 9 Full Thrust. What Jared is showing in the video is the Full Thrust version. The full thrust came in 5 different blocks with minor improvements which each block. The other thing is that the full thrust was the only version of falcon 9 that was able to reuse its 1st stage.

Great video Jared! Just a note that once the first stage lands on the drone ship there is what is called the Octograbber which is a robot that comes out and grabs hold of the booster to keep it from moving around on the drone ship as it returns to port. However no one knows what the Octograbber looks like(at least I have yet to see any photos or videos of it)

Ahh interesting, I figured something would have to latch it down or else it would tip over

@@JaredOwen I've been a huge SpaceX fan for a while now. And the Falcon 9 rocket as well as the Falcon Heavy rocket has become my favorite rocket. SpaceX has only added the Octograbber robot in I believe 2021 to the drone ship because the first few rockets that landed would come back into port either on their sides or completely fell off the ship due to the rough waves. So SpaceX came up with the robot to solve this problem and as I a stated unfortunately I have yet to see what this robot looks like. All I know is that on the ship once the rocket has landed one of the side compartments on the ship opens its door and the Octograbber rolls out and positions itself under the rocket and grabs hold of it to keep it from sliding around. On the live video feeds of when the ship comes back into port you can kinda see the top of it but nothing else.

@@JaredOwen they didnt use to have the octo grabber, then one fell over on the back to port after landing

NASASpaceflight has contributors in Florida who photograph the drone ships when they return to port. They get side shots and some aerial shots, have taken some good pics of the Octograbber. It's in a shielded "garage" and is powered by a heavy cable pulled behind it.
