Untextured Glossy Monitors are SO much better for gaming. This is by FAR the best type of gaming display on the market. Eve wants to make one for their Eve Spectrum Display.

Finally! I have been thinking the same about glossy vs anti-glare for years. I was beginning to think I was nuts and it was only me that preferred glossy panels. It made no sense to me that all the devices mobile enough to take outside in the sun had glossy panels but then the giant monitor that you set up indoors in a room that you normally have some level of control over has a frosty layer over it to "protect you from reflections"! 🤦🏻🤷🏻

Personally I think it's good for TVs, because most people don't have very good light isolation inside their house. Normal blinds will leave noticeable glare on a glossy finish. But ultimately having the choice would be best.

@@nathanbrown492No, these monitors have some quirks and I think modern 1440p monitors are a better overall buy. They used to definitely be worth it back in the day when no manufacturer had a 1440p 120hz monitor or when the 1440p high refresh rate IPS monitors were around $1000 and you could get these for around $300. Nowadays, you can get an ips high refresh rate 1440p monitor in that price range during sales and not have to deal with the headache of getting something shipped from you from Korea, having to overclock, etc.

Hi Dave, I do follow your channel and really like your videos. Personally, I did not like the glossy screens initially. Around 2010, I bought myself a gaming laptop, Dell XPS or something. My experience with glossy laptop screens is, at low NITs of brightness, the glare is really noticeable. It’s then into the territory of having to trade off battery life for a brighter display. Less of an issue admittedly on gaming laptops where it’ll probably be plugged into the wall anyway.

I had a glossy display from LG years ago. Same with a Dell display I had and right now Im using a display with a semi gloss and I am really liking it. Gigabyte makes surprisingly good monitors. So this has been an option if you look deep enough. The funny part is look at cell phones and tablets they are glossy as hell and used in direct sunlight. And that is where HDR comes into play I think now that monitors can get bright enough to outshine reflections that is also playing a big role in the comeback of glossy displays.
