You know your vehicles! This classic is the best Van in mud & snow ever created. If you go to remote ski resorts in Eastern Europe, ever Van taking passengers up & down the mountain is a UAZ.

Awesome story, great job of putting all information into a video! We rent a fleet of UAZ Bukhankas converted to campervans for tourists. They truly are spectacular vehicles for exploring the remoter corners of this world. I imported a 1967 UAZ 469b in 2003. It was a former NVA vehicle and was shipped aboard Wallenius Wilhemsen RORO ship.

There are few shipping companies in Los Angeles who ship from former soviet countries.We have lots of soviet cars in LA.

This video is really helpful. I just started sorting out how to get one of these to the US. There is very little information out there. I have a few more in depth questions about the process if you feel comfortable answering them here. If not, let me know. 1. Can you give a rough estimate of the total cost from start to finish? 2. Do you have a list of the required documents? I'm going through the video a few times to try to make a plan of how to do this myself from a different country. Russia is not an ideal vacation currently. 3. How long did the process take? From when you started looking to when it was back in the states. I'm trying to plan out what all i need to have prepared before I start seriously looking for the vehicle and what I'll need during the process.

Sorry for the late reply, shipping cost me around $2500, obviously that is from Russia and going through other countries such as Germany, Poland, etc. might significantly reduce your costs, like I pointed out in the video each state is different, but generally the only forms you will need are the Bill of Lading form (provided by the shipping company) and the two forms for the EPA and DOT, both of which are included in the video and whoever you choose for customs should help you take care of that. I would say shipping takes a couple of months, and planning also takes a couple of months so I would expect around 4 months give or take between buying the vehicle and registering it. In Eastern Europe a good Bukhanka runs for the bare minimum of around $3000, so lets say $5000 for one in very good shape and running well, $2000 for shipping, $1000 for customs, taxes, and random fees. Additionally however much you're paying someone to help you out over there (which I highly recommend to find someone experienced in this process) an example of this would be mortarinvestments.eu/catalog/item/uaz-452 out of the Czech Republic. So add $1000 for that service, all in all I would plan on around $10000 for the entire process, that is around how much I payed including flights to and from Moscow, as well as food and hotel costs for two weeks abroad, so maybe subtract a grand or two if you don't plan on making the journey.
