I got the opportunity to win a date with my celebrity crush, Andrea Botez, if I could beat her in a game of chess. So I studied and trained for 30 days in order to attempt to pull off this challenge.

I'm glad you're getting into the game and it's good to see dedication in all forms. However, I think you vastly underestimated the difficulty of the challenge you set. Doing 30 days of training and then trying to beat a 2000 rated player, is like doing 30 days of maths in your whole life and then trying to take the MIT maths entrance exam, or like doing going into the UFC Octagon after doing 30 days of training. If you study hard enough, you'll definitely climb in ELO, but you've got to remember that your opponent has been studying for 20-odd years, not 30 days.

@@z17seattle 2000 without learning any openings, strategy or endgames? That's cap
@z17seattleРік тому
@@kingslayer3365 openings are a waste of time till you get to 1500+ you just need basic opening knowledge, develop pieces, control center, castle (same sides castle = slow positional) opposite sides castle = open up their king, race to kill enemy king. Basic strategy = weak squares, maximize space, dont move pawns in front of your king unless you have to. And Endgames are very tactical. You see, the better you get at tactics, the easier it is to remember opening lines anyway, because you know all of the reasons

Tyler, I commend you, but I'm also going to be a voice of reason. There's a very high likelihood You could reach even up to 1500, but still, the difference between 1500 and 2000 (Andrea's skill lvl) is wider than the grand canyon - you'll never be able to beat her unless she goes easy on her - but... with that said, don't give up! You may still be able to get that date regardless!
