I did not mention 2010 US Open final because Nadal played insanely well that tournament. So even if Federer made it to the Final at that tournament, chances are very slim that he defeated Rafa in the final. I guess the match would end in 4 sets with Nadal's victory. BUT IN 2011 I am certain that Federer had high chances of winning the final against Nadal considering that he almost defeated Novak in the semifinal who demolished Rafa in the final. Surely there can be people who argue that Federer was weak against Rafa at that time, but at the Grass and Fast hard court he could beat Rafa with great health condition.
@vladomontezuma626

His biggest chance was in 2011, he was absolutely ready to defeat Novak, but Novak was just amazing... Federer's PEAK accomplishments will never be surpassed. We've seen two other GOATS rise to challenge him, and in my view, both are slightly better than him at the modern game. But Federer's Peak from 04-09 continues to be unparalleled. 23 consecutive semis. Twice 10 finals in a row. Almost 5 years of holding consecutive NUMBER 1 position. The most absurd Peak forehand I've witnessed since I started watching tennis in the mid-90s. There's tennis BEFORE Federer and tennis AFTER Federer. At 39 years of age, he's taking Novak to the limit with 5 insane sets at Wimbledon. It's clear he is the baseline of greatness. If anyone GOAT-worthy rises after Novak and Rafa, that guy will have to at least match Federer's level... how long will it be? A year? A decade? Longer? The greatest we've seen so far is Thiem, and he's struggled mightly against the 3 GOATS in their old age. Imagine Thiem playing pre-2009 Fed or pre-2013 Rafa... Poor kid.

The trademark eighth-finals of 2007 that pitted Feliciano López and Roger Federer is missing. What a pity. That match was beyond amazing; it was extraordinary. Federer's genius for passing shots was at full display in that match. It was a full epitome. It was a big mistake not to put that match... Federer won in four sets. The match was fairly competent... And then, why not to include it??????????
@justbeyourself8515

It should definitely have been 6 in a row. He simply gave the 6th away to Delpo. Remember Roger kept hitting to Delpo's forehand as if he's trying to challenge his consistency...and playing all those unnecessary drop shots when he could just hit cross court for a winner multiple times... Federer was simply too cocky at the time, thinking he was invincible. I'm a great fan of Fed, felt sorry for him for letting these titles slip away, which many years later, came back to haunt him when it became 20, 20, 20.... Roger should have had at least 22

Roger had a set point in the third set, I believe, that was called one way, then reversed after a DelPo challenge. DelPo went on to steal that set, then win the next one for the match. I always wondered if Roger didn't like the challenge system because he knew it would hurt him in his quest to be crowned GOAT. The top players of yesteryear had an advantage that he didn't have after the the electronic line calling systems took over. The close calls tended to go to the Favorite before that. I'm not saying anyone knowingly cheated, but if the call was very close and the linesman wasn't sure, to rule against a champ on big point risked negative crowd attention toward you, and could potentially cost the Tournament a lot of money if the top draw was knocked out early....so when in doubt, go with the champ.....but the challenge system gave the underdog a friend in high places

From 06-09, Fed would've probably won at the US Open. The courts were faster then and flatter. After 2009, the US Open became as bouncy and slow as a fast clay court. They changed the speed in 2010, and many questioned if Rafa would finally take it. Well, Rafa TOOK it. If they met after 2009, Rafa would probably win most matches at the US Open. After 2009, on best of 5, Fed lost his edge against the other two goats. Rafa, however, has NEVER beaten Fed on an indoors court. The H2H indoors is 4-0 to Fed. IF there were more tournaments indoors, their H2H would probably be tied by now.

If I am not wrong, when Roger won those titles, he played semi and finals on consecutive days, sometimes with less than a day's rest in between (Murray final being exception probably). That makes the feat even more impressive. He had a very close 3 setter match against Djoko in 2009 and the longer the final went, it started to become clear that fatigue started to creep in. Delpo had a day match where he crushed Nadal so had more recovery time. With a day's gap, maybe it could have been 6 titles. Giving 2 bagels to a fighter like Lleyton is just insane level of tennis, that kind of dominance will not be repeated.

@@MI-ct9eh Goes to show these so called Djokovic fans are absolutely clueless about Federer’s timeline, like that idiot you just replied to. And yes, everything you said is accurate. Federer has always been an attacking play-style tennis player, so fast courts during his prime years were ideal and he excelled so well at it. Had the court speed remain unchanged from 2010+, I still believe (in theory) that Federer would’ve probably won abit more 3-set tournaments & GS titles up til now (even out of his prime). If anything, these 2010+ slow courts helped Djokovic (known for his extreme long rallies), but more so in favor of Nadal. These 2 should be lucky it benefited them a lot more, but heavily handicapped Federer. If you watch Federer vs Djokovic @ Barclays indoor match, which is a fast court. Federer beat Djokovic and he (Roger) was out of his prime. So that factor in itself says a lot right there.
