Interest rate is currently at 4.75%(8th rate hike since March last year) Inflation at 7% and mortgage rates is at over 7.5% but yet minimum wage remains the same and my retirement portfolio has suffered tremendously these past years, so my question is how do senior citizens retire and live off such unstable economy. The long term game is obviously not for me at this point.

Erm, the problem with the UK's relationship with the ERM was that the UK joined at the wrong time at the wrong rate. Had the UK been in at the beginning or if it had joined at a more realistic rate then it would have been better able to resist the forces of the currency speculators. What was done to the UK was later done to various other currencies after they picked off sterling. George Soros was only one speculator amongst many, including many UK banks.

You forgot to mention the German Unification of November-1989. The cost of which to Germany & the resulting hike in interest rates by Bundesbank singlehandedly caused the biggest disruption. Another was the artificially high rates at which the British Pound joined the ERM.

Soros loans 5,000,000,000 Thai Bhat from Thai goverment, then convert it to 100,000,000 USD. Soros then use something new called "Leverage"(new that time) to sell Thai's currency lowering it's value to 1 USD = 100 Thai Bhat, yet the currency rate updates few days later. Since Soros had already convert his money to USD, and the original loan from Thai was 5,000,000,000 Thai Bhat. Soros convert back from 100,000,000 USD to Thai Bhat is a different story now, hes USD now value 10,000,000,000 Thai Bhat, paying only half of his loan, 50,000,000 USD. He made 50,000,000 USD, that's how the stories goes, same to other Asia country. Hong kong had no idea either to allow their country being economically beaten(like other asia country which takes over 20 to 30 years to economically recover) or it's okay to use their citizens's fund(the reserve money in their bank) as trump card. Just before the expiry of heng seng bond(I forgot which, correct me if I'm wrong), the government of Hong Kong finally decided to gamble(they shouldn't be allowed to because government should not interfere "free market") with Soros with all citizens funds, buying bunch of hong kong stocks, pushing up and down the hang seng index, and Hong Kong won and Soros lost money(don't ask me how much). A Hong Kong mimic it's story line to a drama called 大时代2。

Why did ,even though a lot of people had started using snapchat, they decided to switch back to Facebook when Facebook decided to copy the ideas.
